Adding to the screen protector tip @ 14:49, another good option to try is Settings > Display > Touch Sensitivity > enable "Screen protector mode".

I got the s24 Ultra along with the Pixel 9 Pro XL and in the hand the Pixel is my favorite phone. It just feels so good holding it compared to the squared off s24 Ultra.

I had the 9 Pro XL but traded it in for the 9 Pro because it just felt too heavy for me. I am using the Flip6 as my daily phone right now, and one of the things I absolutely love about it is how light it is to hold. I got used to that, and now I am more sensitive to a big, heavy slab phone.

Excellent review, as always. Answering your question at the end, I've never seen a need for a folding phone, so I'd go with the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. But that said, I also tend to stick with less expensive phones, as I'm not a content creator and don't need features like high-end cameras and enhanced sound in my phone. And, since I'm a sole proprietor who needs to know if a client is calling without even looking at the phone (and I'm not buying a smart watch for this), I stick with Samsung Galaxy phones, because they're the only ones that let me assign distinctive rings to groups of contacts. (But I would love to see another manufacturer begin to offer that feature, or for Google to add it in a future version of Android. It's a feature that has been requested often in Android support forums for years.)

I'm too rough with phones, and I don't choose folding ones because of that. I'd choose this one over a Pixel Fold.
Some other YouTube channel folks believed this Pixel 9 would see a return to Qualcomm Snapdragons for better performance. I've never complained about my existing Pixel 6A; it's good enough. The fact mine runs Graphene OS is the reason I upgraded to the 6a from all my other phones.
The satellite SOS feature on your 9 XL and all the desirable "normie" AI features on it must give our favourite custom ROM makers a lot of pause! I imagine putting a Graphene OS upgrade on this...were it even available...would negate a LOT of what you bought your phone for. Anyway, I like your style choices on your phone and hope you enjoy it. I can't wait until I get the new fold (thanks to best buy and maybe google for the major flop with the release)! I know I won't be renewing the gemini after the free year. I'll actually be making a few calendar events so I make to sure cancel if I can't just disable the auto renew.

I went with the new fold because I really wanted the first gen but didn't want to spend that kind of money for their first attempt. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to replace the need for having a tablet/seperate device for my stuff that doesn't need a laptop. Will be much nicer to be able to not carry and extra thing around and spend $ on a new tablet in the future. If it doesn't fully satisfy my needs, I'll probably trade it in next year for the "pixel 10 pro" and just continue on with buying an additional device.

I like my photos to be of the moment not manipulated except cropped and maybe slightly brighter or darker. I'd like AI to detect images that might have unwanted objects and make suggestions but I'm not a fan of the outright false addition to the picture. It reminds me of a sticker book for kids 😅 I'm sure for a majority the novelty will wear off and be forgotten.

Shannon, you know why those options aren't available in the Rose colour? Because Google today is being run by a bunch of people that couldn't run a hot-dog stand. So many things Google does today doesn't make sense and this is just another to add to that list.
