Should you buy the M2 MacBook Pro? Is the new 13” M2 MacBook Pro worth it? Going from the M1 to the M2, did Apple actually upgrade the 13” MacBook Pro in a meaningful way or has this model become obsolete and you’re just wasting money? We know that there’s a bump in performance - and we’ll see it when I talk about benchmark scores - but I’m more interested in actual, real-life use. So let’s see how these two models stack up against each other, and talk about whether you should buy the upgraded version and which configuration you should choose.

What's up everyone?! I hope this comparison of the M2 MacBook Pro and the M1 MacBook Pro was helpful. Did I cover what you wanted to know? What else did you want to see or learn about?

Would you buy this new M2 MacBook Pro?

I’m using base model M1 MBP 13’’ for months and its absolutely perfect. Even with 8GB of RAM I’m able to use photoshop, inkscape, 10 tabs on safari and much more stuff at the same time, SMOOTHLY. And battery is out of this world. Hope this will help somebody :)

Definitely will keep the M1 and skip the M2. Great review and comparisons, saves me from contemplating.

They are both on the Apple Refurbished Store now and I went with the M1 with 16GB of RAM. It ran Portal and Civilization V with Crossover without any issues and can handle everything I throw at it. It was great when it launched and it still is today. I saved about $400 compared to getting the M2 in the same configuration.

"Buy it nice, or buy it twice" I love it, because it's so very true. I have the M1 Pro and will keep it for a while longer. It does everything I need it to, and does it well. Thanks for the review. 👍🏼

for normal user, the m1 is more valuable and enough powerful as buying the M2 can be a waste of money for them because they cant use the the 100% performance of M2. what do you think about this. for my opinion, the M1 with 16GB ram is more valuable then getting M2 with 8GB ram.

My late 2019 MacBook Pro w/8 core processor is still great no issues. I think I’ll hold off until they add some ports and MagSafe. Awesome review, thanks.

Your comment about CONTEXT is perfect. If you already own the M1 MBA or MBP, you are probably ecstatic about performance. The incremental change to M2 won't be significant enough unless you didn't "buy it nice" the first time. I love my base MBA (8gb/256) so much because everything (e.g speed, sound, and performance) is a stellar experience. Then that I wanted to run Windows with Parallels for my accounting software. It does okay, but there are times that 8GB isn't ideal for virtualization. I would consider the M2 MBP with 16GB as a replacement option. Of course, I've got more options now and the M2 MBA or 14" MBP are going to make the decision harder.

been going around looking at almost everything this past two weeks.

i need it for school as an electronic engineer for 5 years .

i concluded i need 16/516 for the next 5 years to come.

i really love the midnight on air and redesign.

I REALLY REALLY LOVE THE TOUCHBAR. it help me with videos and surfing web tabs interactive. but that’s all i love about it.its like choosing iphone SE gen 3 over iphone 12 pro max tho

14” display is good and all. but i loses my “fun touch bar” with that extra cost and speaker(which i will not be using much)

i fall too deep down and don’t know how to execute it

Just looked on the Apple store in the UK: Base level 14” M1 Pro, £1899. M2 13” Pro with 16Gb RAM and 512gb drive (to bring it to the ‘same’ spec) £1749. £150 extra for a better screen, faster chip with more cores, more ports… I think I know what I’d be doing, and it doesn’t involve the M2!

Great review as always :-)

Which one best?
13" MacBook Pro M2 or 14" MacBook Pro M1?

13" MBP M2 with 16gb RAM, 512gb ssd and 14" MBP base model.

I'm an Interior Designer. I'll use SketchUp, vray, Blender, UE5, C4D, Photoshop softwares.

So which one to buy? Please suggest me.

Awesome video! What did you mean when you mentioned upgrading a refurbished Macbook Pro at the end. Are refurbished Macs able to be taken apart and new RAM/SSD added?

Well, I didn’t see anything REALLY NEW in the new MacBooks to justify buying a new one. The M1 MBs do the trick just right, and they’re literally fresh as well. Upgrading just for the sake of it is not my thing, I’ll hold onto my M1 buddy for a couple more years, I think.

Thanks for the video tho!

I have a 2019 MacBook Air and I'm planning to buy a 2021 MacBook Pro. Why the Pro? I like connecting multiple screens to my MacBook therefore the HDMI port is really useful. But thanks to all of these videos, I know now that I should not buy the 2022 MacBook Pro, I will already see a significant difference between my 2019 Air with the Intel chip and the 2021 Pro with the M1 chip.

I'm glad I got my M1 MBP 13 on sale (base model I just need a computer for general needs and some WoW) for $1099 in March. Hopefully will upgrade when M3 or M4 is out but I'm in no rush to upgrade now. Glad I didn't wait for M2, even though the new Air specs are cool but I like the fans for when I do want to play the one game I will play on a computer.
