California Rent Relief + Eviction Protection Update

Under AB 2179, tenants who face eviction but have completed the rental relief application process by March 31st are protected from eviction through June 30th. The bill extends current state eviction relief protections, which expire on Friday. The Assembly passed the bill in a 60-0 vote, and a vote is expected on the Senate floor Thursday. The bill would provide protection for those who have submitted an application but have yet to receive aid.

The new law is flawed. You still can be evicted if you don't pay April 2022 rent. Also, new local protections against eviction were taken away in specific cities.👎

Hi Ginny Silver, I have a question and it has nothing to do with rent. My friend did the EDD UI and submitted the application yesterday then immediately after submitting it she realized that she answered a question incorrectly. The question “have you worked for any employer from …” she put NO when it should have been yes. She just got paid off 4 days ago and she thought the question was asking if she had another job other then the job she just got laid off from. What can she do to fix this? Is it even possible? She has worked for the passes 3 years but she accidentally put NO instead of YES. She has all her paystubs but doesn’t want to wait for a denial and then have to petition it. Please help?

My friend applied originally when it was offered. The landlord said she was not eligible because she used all her funds? But she told me that she was behind only one time and now she is not able to make the rent upcoming. If she was current and then in arrears one month shouldn’t she get assistance? She then re submitted her application last week? She is a single parent and worried.

Finally got approved for CA rent relief pending payment as of yesterday now let’s see how long it takes for payment.

I applied in Oct. 2021, I was approved in Nov.2021, as of today I still haven't received my funds.
