_Cars that drive themselves were invented ages ago, they're called Taxis_

If these companies invested in public transport we would have probably solved many transport-related problems already.

somehow the design language of the van and the robot remind me of their counterparts in the movie iRobot… not sure if that‘s a good thing 😄

Completely pointless until they get the driving autonomy to lvl4. The new robotaxi doesn't appear to have any extra hardware for that other than what the other Tesla models already have. So it has the same level of autonomous driving - which is currently still at lvl2.

This being anything other than entertainment is, still and again, relying on them cracking autonomous driving, which they continuously promise will happen soon, but never does. Until they do, this is just a presentation of some funny car shaped models. And not very good ones at that - who would want just 2 seats for their taxi?

Honestly reading the comments it's honestly to the point where the Tesla haters are getting more annoying than the Tesla fanboys.

Has none here seen any videos on FSD 12.5? These cars already have the ability to drive hands-free through complex city environments in the US, this is not something that is 10 years away...

Nevermind driverless taxi companies like Waymo that have driverless cars driving around cities in the US driving people around reliably.

Autonomous cars are nowhere near the level, especially true for underdeveloped parts of world.
Instead start brainwashing people on how they need bare minimum luxury, features, light weight, low power and higher mileage....treat car more as a A to B tool rather than status symbol.
Tbh nothing will be efficient as public transport, but they too crowded but i think this is very solvable issue.
Better city planning, more walkable this will solve pollution and obesity problem too.

You know how crustaceans always seem to be evolving into crabs? Well, the automotive equivalent is that all car companies in the 21st century seem to evolve into "mobility services provider". Whatever that means. But while it makes sense for companies who produce cars as practical means to go from A to B, it's really surprising for Tesla themselves, as their marketing strategy tends to be focused on product shock value, not corporate strategy mumbo jumbo. It would definitely have made sense in the Musktiverse (see Tesla's past forays into autonomous cars, the Boring company plans to automate transport, etc.), but more as a separate entity. Keep Tesla as the individualistic brand who produces car for independently minded people who love innovation, and launch a new brand of corporate, cost saving pleasing products (and pipe dreams) to please traditional investors.

Wireless charging should be banned worldwide.

It's incredibly inefficient, and thr opposite of what the planet needs.

(Okay, ban any system that loses say 10% or more of the transferred energy. That would ban every current design that i know of)
