Tou didn’t do ANYTHING WRONG with the braids! They take my hair out EVERY TIME! I’m 45, and I get braids once every 10-15 years! I love them, they just don’t love my fine hair.😫

Your natural hair is goals!! So beautiful !! Iam glad you decided to embrace your curly hair. I did too in 2016 I transitioned and now my hair is almost to my butt as well when stretched.

Thanks for posting. I was obsessed with straight hair too, especially in high school. Great video

Lol I love the middle school pictures. I remember I used to beg you to wear your hair naturally in middle school. It looks so amazing now!!

When you get box braids it’s best to shampoo, condition, rise that out, deep condition, leave it in for some time (I usually do an hour to an hour in a half), blow dry (optional), and last style

Same thing happened to me the first time I tried box braids. Had them in for a month after vacation where i went SWIMMING AT THE BEACH. Child. I didn't dry detangle or put oil or nothing, just right under the shower with shampoo. I lost half my hair because it matted and I had to rip it out. I eventually did box braids again after learning from that mistake, and didn't experience that trauma again thankfully but I just avoid long term protective styles regardless. My scalp and hair likes to be washed every 10 days. I've been straightening it due to going out with friends lately since covid eased, but my hair loves no frills stretched styles like twists and braids (on blow dried hair). It has grown to my waist and increased in fullness with these changes.

My hair broke with box braids too especially edges it got longer but weaker as my hair is fine so now I rarely do them maybe once or twice the year at most but I do them myself but as a style I still love them. Your curls are poplin BTW 😍

i went natural in 2014. I was tired of getting perms my whole life. I had my first perm in 2014 before having my son. I transitioned for 3yrs then big chopped in 2017. My hair stretched it to my bra strap. Now looking back it was the best choice i have ever mad. loving my natural hair. and whenever i want straight hair i throw on a wig. lol

Protective styling isn't for everyone especially braids. It broke off my hair because I have very fine high density hair it too heavy for my hair strands.

make sure your hair is right before putting box braids in. Full deep condition/hair mask etc etc. If your hair isn’t in a good state before the braids, you’re not protecting anything. I’ve noticed a huge difference between putting braids on prepped vs non prepped hair.

I oil mine EVERY DAY, even oiled down the braids! MUCH hair still comes out! It’s the braids and synthetic hair.

Knotless braids are so much better for your hair. Box braids jacked my hair up to like 15 years ago but it recovered thank God . I did knotless last month and it was fine. Also crochet method is good because your own hair is braided underneath so their is no strain on your natural hair.

What pre-poo/hot oil treatment products do you use?

Also, how do you do a hot oil treatment?
