Relaxed hair doesn’t like braids that are left in for long periods. It has to have daily moisture maintenance

It was the braids. Braids will break and thin out hair due to no combing especially with additional hair.

When I used to braid my hair I realized that using any braiding hair in with my hair intermingled..it would break.
But when I braided just my own hair solo it thanked me and grew like weeds..

I just took out my Senegalese twists. I’m relaxed and never had any type of braids/extensions in my hair. A lot of my hair came out too after removing the twists and washing my hair…it was so tangled and I was so mad because I I thought my hair was in a “protective” style. Only had the twists in for 5 wks. I don’t think it’s good to get braids when your hair is relaxed, because of the processing the hair is more fragile and breaks easier.

I don't know why I get excited when I see someone with the same hairline as mine. Your hair is gorgeous 😍

Finally you're God's sent, I have been worried and also looking for how to relax my natural hair (bc i hardly have time anymore 2 keep up) and not be scared of damaging the growth and also maintaining its length and volume .

Your hair is beautiful, you are younger than me, I am 51, and I can't do braids anymore, too much shedding. Be careful with the braids.

For me keeping the braids for a while actually helps a lot with the growth of my hair. I've seen amazing results. Apparently, leaving out my relaxed hair after washing without straighening it damages it rather. For some weird reason but I realized that protecting my hair a lot with braiding or cornrows with my natural hair helps with the growth of my hair.

Thought I'm keeping knotless braids for 3 months, why do I get the feeling that I'll lose hair? I think the perfect protective hairstyle is those without any extension.

Gaps doesn’t necessarily mean split ends and if your hair is getting tangled in the shower I’d consider a more moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

I use human braiding hair and twist my hair. Flat twists and roots that are braided with twisted ends saves your ends. I’ll put synthetic hair on top of human hair for length and color. Yeah, I actually am braiding it twice. 😂😂

Once my hair is relaxed and I put braids or any protective styles my hair break and thin out really bad so I have decided to stay natural and enjoy my braids and styles 😌 if I feel for a straight look I will do wigs for a while

I had the same gap, in fact mine was worse. My hairdresser said its caused by carrying bags on your shoulder.

I'm glad that you let go of those thin ends. I'm not a fan of holding on to damaged hair. Let it go! It will grow back.

its kind of reassuring that even hair gurus do have setbacks. I got bad breakage after a sew in, i was debating just giving up on relaxed hair, but its par for the coarse and not the end of the world if i need a cut.

I had the matting happen twice to me with my permed hair. I had to cut it twice. The 2nd time I did a big chop. Back to natural.

My hair is the length that yours is after you cut it. I would LOVE for it to be longer but it doesn’t look good when it gets longer because the ends look terrible. So I trim it. It status healthier that way and it looks it too. Maybe someday I will be able to have really long hair but I doubt it.
