Smaug would destroy every dragon In GOT. I love Tolkien and I love GOT. As books I actually prefer game of thrones but I still have to give it to Smaug. Powerful, old, intelligent and can speak which makes him a lot more scarier.

Smaug has the intelligence of a human with high IQ, he doesn't even need to fight the dragons from GoT, he can just trick and ambush them, the dragons from GoT are just as smart as a dog 😆

As GRRM admits, he would be pretty biased to wish his own creations would win. Smaug vs Balerion could make for a great fight. We see that Vhagar is like a big flying Godzilla, but doesn't have a sentient intelligence of Smaug. Dragons are clearly capable of some sort of reasoning (dragons seemed to understand Tyrion's story when he was freeing them from captivity), but at the same time they are clearly controlled by animalistic instincts and riders (unless well experienced) will struggle to keep them under control. To compare, Smaug is intelligent, crafty and impossible to kill unless you hit his specific weak spot with help of master archer using a special black arrow (which is somewhat enhanced by magic) or if you bring in some heavy duty ordnance like powerful supernatural beings. I would give it to Smaug, both against Drogon and also Balerion, though the last one would be much more even, unless Smaug prepared a trap or something like that. Maybe charm him with a spell, like Glaurung, though not sure if he was capable of that.

Balerion was clearly GRRM's equivalent of Ancalagon the Black of Tolkien universe. In this case, Ancalagon basically eats him the same way Vhagar got rid of poor Arrax. Balerion could swallow mammoths whole, while Ancalagon was a size of a mountain range, as he emerged and could touch all 3 peaks of Thangorodrim (fortress of Morgoth).

One Scorpion Arrow can kill a dragon from a song of ice and fire but it takes two black arrows to take down Smaug ( one to damage his scale and one to pierce his flesh) and you have to precisely hit that spot where you removed the part of scale whereas SOIAF dragons can die from a scorpion arrow hitting any vital part of their body.

Smaug would eat Balerion for breakfast, and use Drogon as toothpick. After all, he is in direct line from Glaurung. He is roughly the sise of two jumbojets. :-)

smaug wins easy, and that says a lot considering that in tolkiens work, smaug is a butterfly compared to dragons that lived in the first age (glaurung, ancalagon)

Smaug smashes right through Drogon. Smaug is larger, much more intelligent, and has a way tougher scale armor system to get through. They only killed him by shooting at a gap in his scales on the underside. that armor also gives Smaug the edge over Balerion the Black Dread. Tolkien made his dragons to be almost unstoppable beasts whereas GRRM made his dragons to be actual animals.

Smaug would lure them to his side. Just imagine dragons fighting for the throne too! Imagine them making alliances with families against other. Plotting and causing troubles. That's would've been GREAT
