Simple, Outlook is unable to access you PST file, so cannot download emails from the server. To fix this you don't need to delete your existing profile or create new Outlook profile. Recreating a Outlook profile is not a simple task if you have multiple email accounts. Here is a simple solution to fix this complicated issue.

You are a legend. Thank you, and no thanks Microsoft for a) no help and b) a ridiculously complex means of fixing a simple problem. Another help site gave only half the solution with the result it didn't work and left things in a worse mess.

An absolute legend.

What a star! I moved my outlook files in a big clear up of my pc, some of my emails didn't work and I couldn't find how to point them to the correct folder. 8 years on, this is the most straight forward and best instruction on how to fix it in minutes. A thousand thank yous. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Excellent procedure. In Office 2016 I edited the Outlook registry, moved multiple PSTs to a new location, then encountered: "Sending reported error (0x8004010F) : Outlook data file cannot be accessed." Your fix worked! Thank you!

Fantastic! I spent 2 hours last night with a tech at Office customer support, and another 1 hour with a tech from MS Windows 10. All they did was help me get into my "permission denied" Application Data" folder. This video showed me where the problem was and how to fix it in 10 minutes. Things look a little different on Windows 10, but the gist of opening the mail accounts and working in there still applies. Great job and many thanks!

This did the trick for my MS Outlook 365 Windows 10. Confusion with MS OneDrive - Personal operation caused the original problem. I will deal with that later. I didn't want it. I had upgraded from Office Pro-19 to Office 365. A big mistake but am stuck for now. Thanks for the fantastically simple fix video.

Can't believe how pathetic Microsoft is regarding bugs like these. An entire Microsoft website made to resolve issues that do not resolve any issue. Suddenly, the solution is on an youtube channel. Keep up the good work fellows!

Normally I don't like videos that are not narrated and explained, but this worked so perfectly and was easy to follow. Defiantly thumbs up, thanks for this.

Excellent job! I've been wasting time to fix this watching other video instructions but didn't succeed. Your video is the best. In short time and and with no bla-bla-bla. Just what is needed! Thank you very much!

genius, better than those long dramatic solution post which end up with not solving the problem at all!

I also ran into this error but I was trying to link it to my google drive sync folder. It still maybe able to be done but I gave up and was not be able to that. Thank you for a super simple, easy to follow, complete video. Why can't Microsoft just use this video instead of having people create new profiles, It is beyond me. They are no better than the government.

I tried many suggestions (from Microsoft, TalkTalk and others) and this was the only one that worked. Thanks for this!

This still works in Windows 10. The only thing is you may not see the "mail" icon in control panel. If you do a search in the top right corner of control panel you should find it. Follow the excellent instructions above and it should work. Well done Remo. To get to classic control panel in Windows 10 launch the run command by pressing the Windows key + R then type: control then hit Enter and you will be there.
