Project Zomboid is an open-world isometric survival horror video game in development by British and Canadian independent developer The Indie Stone. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested world where the player is challenged to survive for as long as possible before inevitably dying.

'Til Death Us Do Part was a story included in Project Zomboid as its own game mode. It served as the tutorial to introduce new players to the basic concepts of Project Zomboid, like base fortification, scavenging, and fending off hostile undead and survivors.

In 2013, 'Til Death Us Do Part was removed from the game, along with NPC survivors, with the release of version RC 2.9, due to NPCs being far too buggy. The Indie Stone did not abandon the story and have stated they still have big plans for NPCs and the story of Bob and Kate.

I love how the longest surviving man is an East Coast Enclave trooper

My record of how much I managed to survive the longest is 5 months. The reason I died was because I got sick from the corpses behind the fence that I was supposed to burn later. If not for that, I would have died anyway. I was not prepared for the coming winter.

For me, my true goal in Project Zomboid isn't really to survive but to uncover every inch of the map. Every time a character dies, the map remains, and since the map is huge... I'm pretty much motivated to keep going, survive as long as possible to discover (and record on the map) as much as I can.

I think it would be interesting that if you survive for long enough your character grows old and dies of old age. Or depending on your negative traits dies from a heart attack or stroke. Hey at least you went more peacefully than having your guts ripped out by your neighbors

Aw man, i was hoping he left it on to see how long a world can actually go for. Or is it actually just forever

I started watching these like last week, inspired me to get the game finally yesterday. Thought that I had some cool advantage over the game watching all these vids. Loaded in, zombie immediately spotted me through the window of walking around for all of 2 minutes, ran away, alerted more zombies from scampering around blindly in a panic, died hiding in a windowless bathroom cornered. Survived 40 in game minutes, lol It's so unforgiving I love it tho. I toast my lone potato chips and water bottle to you komp.

My 280 days run ended because my character accidentally fell from the second floor when i was repairing the sheet rope(the only way into my base) and died from a deep wound on my character's neck

The longest I've ever survived was 14 months on a big vanilla server. Shame that server is gone now. I probably would've survived even longer.

I've been playing Zomboid literally since it very first released, back when it was only available through Denuvo, Kate and Baldspot were in the game, and the graphics were more pixelated (which I kinda miss).

After all these years I think the longest I've ever survived is 6-10 days 😂
I don't really try for long-haul survival, I usually work my way through cities trying to loot every building, constantly on the run from hordes, finding somewhere to barricade and hunker down for a nights sleep, and die a horrible gruesome death after a few days.
Playing this way is the funnest for me, quick spree of horror and action, more of a roguelite experience. Long term survival is cool and all but I'd get bored just living in the woods, if I wanted to do that kinda stuff I'd just play an actual farming sim... Which I don't do.
Not knocking anyone else's preference though!

There's probably some number cruncher/max efficiency player out there who's managed 5 years or more just because they could, but until the game introduces challenges and/or scenarios like what CDDA has, there isn't much of a *reason* to maintain a character past a certain point.

My longest solo survival run in apocalypse mode was a couple years. And the problem is I never actually died. My PC broke and I had to get a new one, so I lost my old save.

I survived 7 months, technically more since I haven't died but, I got bored : nothing more to do except grinding for level 10 skills

Yea, it's honestly easy to survive forever in project zomboid. The beginning can be tough when you gather resources and make your base. Once all of that is sorted you, you can literally never leave your base and basically play project zomboid like Sims. Your death would probably come from something stupid like falling off your house while building it

In other words, this is how you died.

Just done a "Wolf's Extraction Quest" mod today

That's one way to finish a game for me.

We know the player doesn't survive the apocalypse ("This is how you died." after all!) but what about humanity canon/lore wise?

Does humanity survive? And if not how long does it hold out? Does it make it into the next century (our current one) at least or does it fizzle out in the 90s?

I hope it at least makes it to the next century! And overall I hope it survives!

I believe there is a mod to survive for a life time. Start at 25 and die around 85 years old… 60 in game years
