The maesters and the Hightowers had always been plotting against the Targaryens from day one of their arrival to Westeros.

This makes sense. It was the Measters idea to create the dragon pits which cause the dragons to shrink and grow weaker, and it was grandmaster Pycelle, who convince Areys to let Tywin through the gates. And it’s known the Measters depise magic which is primarily what the dragons are considered.

This makes sense . And the Citadel had issues with the royals ever since Aegon the conqueror passed away . They strongly opposed his heir and his grandson .

It’s no coincidence that the targaryens have had close to 300 years to expand and strengthen their family in Westeros, and yet their family consistently and mysteriously “shrinks”, leaving them at only a few Targaryens to keep the family line alive.

Maesters have always sought to understand the world. And when the world presented the parts of itself that were outside or beyond their understanding, they sought to excise and eliminate those parts.

Maesters were basically a Lord's personal human Google/Wikipedia/RL Doctor, so if they had the mission, they could do it. That's *ALOT* of power.

And the dance of Dragons weakened the dynasty ever since

This is why I’m hoping Dany will just completely obliterate them when she arrives home. It’s been teased so much through the books that the masters have been trying to destroy House Targaryen since Aegon that I feel like it’ll have some importance once she’s back.

Also if you notice, as the years go by you see more and more rats around the Red Keep and Viserys even noticed them right when his sickness started to really get hold of him. The Maesters have always been known as "grey rats".

Makes more sense since the maesters are trained in oldtown

Poor boy, he deserved better. I hope whatever gods truly exist in Westeros had a kinder fate waiting for him beyond the veil

Something i think some people miss his. There are always servants lingering just a bit too long. Its a seen where Alicent goes to meet with Larys and the servant bows but watches her enter. Also when Alicent meets with Criston Cole are the only parts I've caught so far

Rhaenyra: Lord Borros will need to be reminded of his father's oath.
Borros after hearing the contents of the letter: Remind me of my father's oath!?

Where is the misinterpretation?

Tbh the Borros one makes zero sense. He is siding with the Targs either way, be it Aegon or Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra already believed Borros would be on her side (and so did Alicent and Otto hence sending Aemond there and him being uncertain how will the Storm's End react) so it's not like she needed something to give him in exchange versus the Greens who knew they had to. Plus, Borros had made his mind well before either of them came because he believed in men's right to inherit and hoped Elenda would give him a son to leave everything to. Not to mention Rhaenyra wasn't as close relative to him as Boremund was to Rhaenys so he would pretty much only side with her for Rhaenys' sake, except he doesn't even know Rhaenys is his first cousin, he thinks she is second cousin at best and sees no reason to die for her and her goals. The argument between Luke and Aemond was a result of Maris and her jealousy and sharp tongue. This literally had nothing to do with the letter itself as it had with how Borros felt about each side

The maesters are supposed to be a mirror of real life scientists who want to dismantle nuclear bombs.

The Baratheon was Borros. Boremund was his father, way smarter, loyal and popular

Well, the Maesters owe some allegiance to the Hightowers. The Citadel is located in their town afterall. Probably a certain amount of funding comes from the Hightowers as well.

I think he had something to do with the baby dying at the beginning
