Duke Energy should be stepping up. They should be protecting their employee. And they should also give Jade the name of the women who lives on the property. But bottom line Duke Energy needs to step up.

Seriously, the providers should just simply cut off services if their employees cannot service the address without harassment, sending their employees into the harm's way is definitely a lawsuit waiting to happen.

The sheriff being so “buddy-buddy” with the assailants just means you’re in NC🤷🏾‍♀️

Makes me sick that the sheriff shook hands with the guy that tried to assault her. I hope she's doing OK. She deserved better treatment by "law enforcement "

I work for a private utility company for 32 years and the employees and especially contractors that work for the company are properly identified. And from experience most of the people who are irate about being supposedly on their property are ones who have been disconnected for non-payment

Her company should be pressing charges! She was on the job!

I always get aggressive protecting my lawn from a utility worker with tiny flags and a dangerous can of spray paint!! WTF!! The company she works for should have stepped up to identify them and pressed charges. They need to protect their employees from these kinds of nutcases.

In the early 1980s while working for a cable company I experienced exactly the same thing. As it was, I was able to retreat out the back of this crazy guys yard through a public easement. I disconnected his cable while I was leaving.

A similar situation happened years ago near my home town. The utility worker was working near two homes when he was set on by dogs, not just dogs running lose, by released by the home owners. He couldn't even climb down the pole, this is before cell phones. So he was stuck up there for quite some time before his supervisor came to find what was taking so long. He wasn't able to get close enough to talk to the worker, so police were called. The home owners were arrested, and their utilities were never restored. Stupid is as stupid does.

The police never told these people that were harassing her that the easement is public property or the utilities property? The officer completely dropped the ball here! He should have watched the video that this woman filmed. This is wrong in so many ways!

The woman calling the cops trying to sound like she's in distress, she wants the cops to come and attack her.

The three harassing the Duke Energy field worker aren't unusual. They're everywhere in rural Florida. Ignorant and prone to freak out about their property, especially if you've got darker skin. "Git off muh land, " is spot on. I'm glad the employee wasn't harmed by that weasel lunging at her.

I used to work for Duke's competitor in GA. The woman did the correct thing by filming and walking away and letting corporate security and police handle it. A lot of corporate security are ex cops who still have good relations with the police department. They probably approached these people and explained they had an easement right that even though it may be on those people's property they have a right to access. I would as a courtesy have tried to knock on the door and explain what I was doing and then did the locating but ultimately I had the right to be back there. The cop just used poor judgment but ultimately Duke Power is a pretty large corporation only smaller than the one I worked for. Also the paint sprayed on the ground is not permanent. A few rainfalls and it will disappear. In the end someone came out and finished the job. Whether it be replacing the pole or digging up the yard to install underground cables. In the future though when a storm came through and these people's power went out there's a strong possibility that they would be last on my list to be restored. Just saying.

I hope they file a complaint against the police officer too!!!

DUKE ENERGY should press charges on behalf of the worker. UTILITY EASEMENTS are legal rights on behalf of the company.

Chances are that the sheriffs deputy and the guy in the hat are members in the same hate group.

The law enforcement officer needs to explain his own reaction. The homeowners have NO say when it comes to utility poles within the easement. Maybe the cop needs educated on law and how to behave like a law enforcement officer.

The utility company should have records as to where Jade was sent on that day and easily pinpoint the property address/owners and the couple who confronted Jade. The utility company should then confront the couple.
