A few years ago I made Peking duck pancakes from scratch (including the pancakes) for a first date a few years ago. I'm now exclusively eating reheated leftovers from the freezer... Because we're married and have a 10 day old newborn 😅

Line of gear for amuse. Talk about yourself for starter. For main I’d serve crispy pancakes, matched with a vk apple. Finish with some ket and Buckfast. Maybe pull out the mint Viennetta if you need to elevate the vibe.

Homemade dimsum. Not only can most of it be made in advance and steamed when needed, but its quite impressive to open a lot of small steaming baskets with tasty treats. Personal favorite is homemade cheung fun with pork filling..

While steak and similar dishes can be impressive, I want food to be FUN and interesting. Steak is tasty, but not as fun as 6 tiny steam-trays of surprises. It also makes the food a good talking point.

First meal I ever cooked my girlfriend was chicken piccata with roasted ponzu Brussels sprouts and jalapeno aioli. The next meal was a simple butter basted steak, but I soaked some blood oranges in vodka for a week to make a nice cocktail

a creamy tangy light seafood soup, a steak stir fry with lots of veggies, and a custard with seasonal fruits, preferably sour berries, topped with sweet whipped cream (preferably with hazelnuts).
