I've overdosed before. (I am now sober and clean) But overdosing has to be one of the scariest things I've ever been through. Let this be a lesson, don't do drugs. One wrong dosage or wrong batch and you're dead. Drugs may feel good in the moment but eventually, they will ruin your life. My history of drugs has destroyed many of my relationships. Many of which I'm still trying to fix, my mom, dad, sisters, brother-in-law, grandma, etc. The moral of the story is don't do drugs. If you're currently struggling with addiction, please get clean. It will be one of the best decisions of your life. I know it's hard, trust me. But you can overcome addiction.

I was flown to a hospital by a helicopter after an accidental OD.
I was prescribed fentanyl-patches to manage my nerve-pain.
After a trip to the sauna i applied a new patch without noticing that i had damaged the skin by scratching while in the sauna. This caused a much bigger dose to go into my body than intended.

It was just like going to sleep and waking up in hospital really out of it the next day without being able to form sentences for about 12 hours.

It wasn’t as nice to my father who had found me covered in puke, called 112 (911 of Finland), saw me being treated by the ambulance-crew before being loaded onto a helicopter.

I spent 3 days in the hospital and went back to oxycodone for pain.
I’m just glad this happened here in Finland and it didn’t cost me anything…

& its so crazy to me that if you don’t successfully OD, you catch a charge for it . these people need help & jail time is NOT the kind of help they need .

I've had respiratory depression like 10 times at least when I was a teenager and somehow still survived. Didn't even tell anyone.

Had 3 of those overdoses and survived. Without help "knock on wood" would not do it again. What I learned is don't hesitate to seek out help

If you see someone overdosing on anything please call 911 and tell them what the overdose is on. It’s not the time to worry if you will get in trouble or not. If you live in the USA a majority of states have a law where if you report the overdose you won’t get in trouble. You can also get leniency from police and prosecutors for doing the right thing.

Years ago I had to take my husband to the ER. Behind us was a mom with her teenager who had clearly overdosed on something. The mom said her friends brought her home like this. The nurse immediately had her cut in front. Her friends should have called 911 and told the operator what she overdosed on. Even if they left her on the sidewalk. Paramedics are only there to save people. They are not there to collect evidence.

an aunt of mine from my maternal fathers side had OD before, not to mention she was a teen mom, my aunt from my maternal mother's side thankfully saved her life... and I know someone who's sister unfortunately lost hers. I can't imagine nor do I want to. I know to some extent what drugs do and I don't do any I don't even drink either. but I do take prescribed meds I'm grateful to find this to learn to know what to do.

You know when my dad was in rehab, he told me that he would rather burn his arm and chop it off than go through heroine withdrawals again

Imagine being feeling like your bones are burning to death hot to the point that you're getting cooked from the inside
