I understand in what a NAS is very convenient, but I hate having a drive from which I can’t work. Being obliged to move the files to a work drive is too time consuming for me.

Even from one drive to another in local, only ssds, it takes sometimes ten to 30 minutes… that’s the only thing I don’t understand about NAS (for a solo usage). I’d rather have a big SSD bay, at least, for speed !

Is this good to store photo & videos? I do a lot of photography, car and motorcycle videos/content. I’m full on storage from my apple Mac laptop. I’m not sure what the best drive to get. Is the NAS drive worth the purchase?

Our unit failed, and its a 1200 brick. They wont cover warranty. I would avoid Synology. After a search, you see many with the issues. The SW was nice, but not needed. New MFGs are using 3.2 Gen2 USB with much better connectivity, and 10gb lan, and with SSD Hybrid. These are out dated models.

I got 2 of this and 1 das (i only use 8tb das but that because of my pc doesnt have any room for another hdd), got 2 nas but its count as 1 because the second nas only for backup if the other one fail (i got 10tb each nas)
