External SSD vs External HDD Explained : Why I Decided To Upgrade

Today I explained the difference between two external hard drives, the SSD and the HDD. Although still useable, the HDD is an older technology slowly fading. I wouldn't be surprised that in another five years, HDD will be absolute. On the hand, SSD ( Solid State Drives) are the new kids on the block. Not only is the SSD faster, but it's also more robust. In this video, I explained the difference between each and why I chose to change drives.

This was very helpful. Today I purchased Seagates' 5TB portable storage. When I got home I noticed the packaging didn't state if it was a SSD. I did a little research and found out it is in fact HDD (It was also on the back of the packaging, duh). I don't have the most steady hands in the world and I was worried that I would drop and damage it. When you mentioned that this is a high probability, I determined right then I was taking it back and getting either the San Disk or Samsung SSD. Thanks for the video conformation.

How long did you own this San Disk drive? Today i bought my own San Disk 1 terabyte Extreme Portable. I wonder for long you owned yours. People say this drives, well some of them are faulty. i hope my holds up. let's say in the next 6 months.

I love your straightforward videos.
But SSD does have to have a battery in it to maintain power. It might be small and not look like what we think of as a battery. If you are out hiking etc. the SSD is the way to go,

The older, larger HDD, as you said, should ne be moved around. It is more intended to sit on your desk as long term storage, of older info.

Horses for courses, they both have their use case.
