Can you jumpstart an automatic car?

We recently received a question asking if it is possible to jump-start an automatic car.

However, the term “push-start” is sometimes mixed up with “jump-start” and this is where the other answer comes in: You can’t push-start a vehicle with an automatic transmission, as the drivetrain design doesn’t allow for this. If you are stuck in an automatic, rather call for a rollback tow truck, or at least a tow truck which will lift your automatic car’s driven wheels off the ground.
