The chocolate chip cookie is a large bacterial colony. I’ve seen them before on Lake Ontario. Sometimes they’ll be different shapes and colors and they usually are encrusted on rocks. I’ve heard them called freshwater corals, although like I said, they are actually bacteria and not any type of coral.

Number 6 was a deep sea comb jelly. Those rainbow “lights” was the light from the rov being refracted on its cilia. Sadly it looks like it got torn up either in the rov’s rotors or just by the currents made by it at the end of the recording.


Edit: Judging by the shape and the deep red colour, it seems to be a member of the species Lampocteis cruentiventer, also known as the bloodybelly comb jelly.
Edit edit: I know that it's black in the film, but as light fades and colours get washed out, red is the first colour to go, and it turns black when it does.

(edit): At 4:03 those clips kinds remind me of the spine and head of a Spinosaurus. Maybe they shrunk due to decreased or increased oxygen (Idk I'm not a scientist)..
