It always freaks me out when people go out on the ocean on a kayak, especially fishing. I’ve got a 14’ row boat with motor and even an 18” freshwater bass can haul that thing along, Nantucket Sleigh Ride style...I cannot imagine hooking some big ocean fish from a tiny kayak, not to mention the fact that lots of ocean dwellers are big enough to capsize, bite, and thrash me off it. Kayakers are CRAZY and have no self preservation instincts, LOL! 😱😬

My son and I were fishing off the coast of Pensacola two years ago and we saw what looked like a sea monster but when it came next to our boat it was a giant sea turtle, I'm talking a 500 hundred pound and the size of a small car turtle. It's head was as big around as a soccer ball or larger and stuck a foot and a half out the water. It watched us a short bit than left and right behind it was a 14 foot Tiger Shark and we were in a 18 foot boat. To us it was a sea monster sighting.

Coming from Scotland where we have a lot of seals, I would say it is a "grey seal", seen them many times before "spy hopping", The young ones even come right up to you to have a closer look out of pure curiosity. And if you use their wailing call to communicate with them, the adults will follow you all the way along the beach in the water. They act so much like dogs do.

It's a seal. The profile/outline of the head is the giveaway. They're very curious when they see something new in their area, especially where people are concerned. I used to dive this one spot in Puget Sound regularly, and there was a seal in the area that had a fascination with divers. It would break the surface and watch divers getting their gear on then "disappear" when we entered the water. Drifting along the undersea shelf looking for wolf eels and octopi, the seal would swim around us for several minutes checking us out and doing playful barrel rolls past us. It was amazing to watch something that large be so graceful and fast in the water.
