I served 8 1/2 years in the Navy and have the greatest respect for the Marines.

The military consists of 2 military branches (Army and Navy), one corporation (Air Force), one branch of boarder patrol (Coast Guard), and a war cult (Marines).

Active duty Navy here, comparing both branches is pointless because our Navy and our Marines have two very different goals in mind. We're all one team, fighting the same fight here. Hooyah 🇺🇸

I love how the US won its independence without a Navy but now we have a Navy that has its own Air Force (aircraft carriers) and its own army (Marines) that can go be deployed anywhere in the world!

Both are good in their own ways but can we both just make fun of the airforce?

Navy: We have the strongest ships in the world.

Marines: But do you have Fortunate Son?

Marine Corps is a part of the Navy. Marines need a ride to shore, big mama Navy drives them there. The Navy is for ship-ship warfare as well as being a mobile asset to provide air support from offshore.

Same team, Navy is Uber for the Marine Corps.

A lot of people are saying things like "which one is better?"

Most people need to understand is that the Navy supports the Marines and the Marines supports the Navy. The Navy even provides the Marines with all of their medical benifits and doctors. The Marines on the other hand deploy with Navy personnel on Navy amphibious ships and can be used to fight enemies targeting Navy ships from the land.

These are both super respectable and wel known branches and have the overall same goal in mind.

By the way infographics: marines deploy for 6-9 months unless their deployment is extended. It may also depend on their type of deployment but almost every time your average marine deploys for about 6-9 months.

A Sailor and a Marine walk into the head (bathroom). They both pee in the urinal. The Sailor turns to wash his hands, the Marine heads for the door without washing.
The Sailor says "Marine, didn't your mother teach you to wash your hands after you pee?"
The Marine says "No, Chief, my mother taught me not to pee on my hands", and walks on out.

Uhm... 2:08 Why are you showing a scene from the American Civil War when you're describing the War of 1812?
