Man you Americans have fighters for everything. Coolest thing we have (which is badass) is our SAS, kinda jealous. Much love you legends, from down under ❤

U.S. Marines NEVER referred to themselves as “soldiers”. They will accept “Marine” or “Warrior” or even “jar head” but NEVER “soldier’

Without raiders, sailors wouldn't have an excuse to get drunk at paddle parties.

Special Forces is not a "Catch-All" phrase of all the military elite units. Special Forces are Army Green Berets that specialize in Unconventional Warfare. The "Catch-All" phrase is Special Operations or Operators.

As a American Patriot, Marine Raiders and Navy SEALs are both badass unconventional Warfare specialists Amphibious Shadow Warriors defending America against all enemies everywhere by any means necessary at all times and all costs through out the history American Special ops. Fearless Special operators always stay ready for victory in times of War, train smarter, stronger and more importantly more deadlier than the enemies of freedom and America. Both of them are never out of the fight.

MARSOC has a completely different profile to the SEAL teams. A better comparison would be between Force Recon and SEALs.

The re-establishment of Marine Corps SOF in 2006 was more of a political or bureaucratic move, as Marine Corps leaders saw how their marines were left out from all the fighting in the early stages of the Afghanistan invasion 2001, as most fighting were done by SOFs, which the Marine Corps lacked. This led them to initiate Det 1, a pilot program to determine the suitability of a USMC element operating under SOCOM, which led to the creation of MSOB in 2006. However, they don't bring anything new on the table that SOCOM doesn't already have. But of course, Marine Raiders are still an effective unit with accomplishments of its own; not taking that away. 1 big difference is that Marine Raiders only recruit marines that have been in service for several years, in contrast to Navy SEALs, that takes civies directly off the street.

Frogmen in WW2 used to leave signs that said “Hi Marines!” Marsoc’s mission is very similar to Special Forces

No spec ops unit is better than one another. It’s all about specialty, mission set, and funding which collectively dictates the type of focused training. There’s a lot of overlap in most of the general training and operators move and try out for other units. For instance, SEALs or Marine Force Recon are like fish in the water and can conduct VBSS operations to perfection - whereas SF is focused on more unconventional tactics and warfare that require more long-term planning and execution. All of them, however have direct action capabilities. There are plenty more examples like thi

Neither are Special Forces. Special Forces is specifically 18 series MOS US Army (I was 18A, 18D)

SEALs and MARSOC are part of the larger umbrella that is “Special Operations.”

MARSOC draws from a pool of riflemen. SEALS draw from a pool of Navy workers.

MARSOC is more like Army SF in that they take top athletes from their respective pipelines on a 2nd enlistment tour and train them professionally to keep them in for careers. They prefer E-5s and E-6s. Marine Recon/Force Recon are more comparable to Navy SEALS, but still their missions are quite a bit different. As a former Reconassannce Marine, at the end of the day, all of these units have different missions and are the best at what they do - to preserve the USA when call on.

MARSOC can do everything the seals do and more, there’s a reason there 100 movies made about the seals and 0 made about MARSOC/raiders. (Yes I’m a little bit biased because mahween core) and yes ODA drops more than ODB but still the marines have always completed their mission
