Evan, glad I watched this video. I’ve been wanting a GTR and it’s good to know about these kinds of issues. The upkeep costs are something that hadn’t crossed my mind. I think this would be a little out of my league. Think the Evo IX I originally wanted would be a better choice from me from a maintenance cost standpoint. Love your videos and the inspirational messages.

7:12 You're absolutely correct! The GTR R35 can be a very pricey vehicle to repair or mod. Now with that said, trans repairs are starting to come down due to shops learning how to work on them and aftermarket improved parts being available. Its still pricey but AMS for example can do what amount to a stock trans rebuild for around $2500 and a step above that for $5, 000. You do have to send them your trans for rebuild.

I live about a mile north of 121 which Trackstar Motorworks is off of. Every now and then I hear a loud car in the distance when I'm outside that sounds like your GTR, Supra, or R32. It makes me smile thinking it could be you ripping on your cars.

I own a 2010 with 98, 000 miles on the clock and no issues. I installed the special stainless c-clips on the shift pistons to keep them from rotating (which was part of your problem) and the trans has worked flawlessly ever since.

Had Nissan replace my bellhousing before my warranty went out on my 15 lol 😅
