Now in my seventh year of owners, and after owning a decent number of high-end cars, I thought it would be useful to share my findings on maintenance costs for the R35 GT-R.

Call me nuts but Craig, I would be willing to trade you my 2009 Mitsubishi Spyder Eclipse with 110k miles for your GTR. Now, you might think I am insane -- but for you buddy, Ill make the drive and swap where ever you need but do hurry. A rat chewed some of the wiring and it technically could go up in flames at any moment. Car does not come with rat, he is no longer with us.

Well, he's giving the cost of what it would be if you have your car serviced, which is fair, because nine out of ten high end car owners will not work on their own cars. Most of us don't have special tools for a Lambo or a Ferrari. And if you work on your car, good for you. You save even more money. I work on my GTR, and it's not even about the money. I just love working on it as a hobby. For some of us, there's a sense of pride and joy to drive my own car right after I worked on it.

These costs reflect if you don't have the means to do your own maintenance. Can easily be reduced 60-75% if you do it yourself

It's funny how some people don't even think about maintenance costs. Just because you can afford to buy a sports/exotic car, doesn't mean you can afford to maintain it.

My stock MKIV Supra turbo(1997) starts up every time and never breaks... never no matter how long it sits. Oil changes are $50 and tires are $400 a set. I cannot complain and the experience of driving one is like nothing else

The only way I'll be able to get a GTR 35 is if I win the FL lottery, steal one, or the apocalypse just happened right when am test driving a GTR and am getting out of the city before the zombies get me.

2000-2500 dollars a year in maintenance costs including everything?!

Damn, thats really not thát expensive. Honestly. I expected much worse.
A 'normal' daily driver car can be around 400 to 1000 euro's a year over here in The Netherlands.

After 1 year of ownership, these are my cost.
MX72 pads: $700
2x oil change with RLI and NISMO filter: $110 each (dyi).
Brake fluid (motul 600): $65
Rims and Tires (19in Advan GT w/A052): $5, 300
1 Crank Seal: $8 (Subaru brand)
6 Ngk spark plugs: $85
1 coil pack: $15

You also don't need to change your transmission fluid after every track day, only if the temps reach 242f.After 1 year

Lol BMW dealer is quoting me $1400 to change the spark plugs on my F82 M4. I replaced it myself with the same Bosch spark plugs from FCP euro for $37.74 The entire job did took me about an hour and half. To be honest, a huge portion of the premium maintenance cost on a sport car is “performance markup” on both parts and labor. Except for tires maybe

I'm getting ready to do a transmission and differential service on my 2010 GTR and it cost $310 for the needed amount of Motul High Torque transmission fluid and another $175 for a trans filter and pan gasket. Not outrageous for an 18, 000 mile service but then I do the work myself.

Have owned new since 2016 and have done all maintenance at home including trans and diff oil change. Nearly 20k miles and have needed new tires. Car is not tracked. Probably have spent 5k on maintenance so far.

I find it shocking that the R35 GT-R is the longest running generation unlike the generation of the R32, R33 & R34 where its no more than 3 years vs. the R35 is over 10 years. The R35 has been around longer than its predecessors the R32, R33 & R34 combined probably due to the fact its the more street legal generation in North America.
