Hi Dennis! As a long term viewer of your channel, you may recall some of my earlier comments I’ve made over the last two years of changing my diet. I had hoped my new life style would reward me with the kind of results many of my fellow viewers have achieved, many over the course of just a few months. That has not been the case with me, and I believe what you touched on in this video (liver still trying to heal itself) along with the “Dawn Effect” are the culprits. While my A1C readings are now in the 5.5. - 5.7 range, many times my morning glucose reading is in the 120 - 133 range. In fact my morning reading is always my highest. I write this thinking there may be others in this same boat that may find solace in knowing they’re not missing something or necessarily failing to do what’s required to get their numbers down. While I know I’m WAY better off health wise now than two years ago, it can be frustrating to be dogmatic about diet, yet not be counted into the crowd who see wonderful results so quickly, relatively speaking.

A glucose reading of 14 is in the “death zone” as climbers call the upper altitudes of Mount Everest.

Regarding the lady in the video, I'm suspecting she is currently overweight, and the body is breaking down the fat and increasing the blood sugar and the liver is processing everything. When the weight comes down, the blood sugar should come down day by day.

When the weight and weight loss has become stable, that's the point where I'd expect her sugars to be stable. I also had the heart enzyme level test after breaking my shoulder, and it indicated I was having a heart attack. I'm 184 lbs, but not fatty, so I don't have a lot to lose in weight, as I'm already in athletic build.

Now I notice a gentle sweat that isn't visible to anyone under my eyes, and at cheek level, so I can tell that way if something odd is happening, but at least for me doesn't occur at high or dangerously low blood sugars.

I'm expecting changes when the shoulder is healed, with no pain. But I intend to keep on top of it by fasting, as I heal faster with lower blood sugar obviously.

Thanks for your channel. I was diagnosed in July with T2 and a A1C of 12. I just had my 3 months Labs and my A1C is now 6.1. Taking 2 Metformin tablets a day (1000Mg total)

I have this same effect with my morning blood sugars. I just keep with the low carb way of eating. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. If we do our part GOD will help me with the rest. We are not abandoned or forsaken in our time of need. 🙌👑

I couldn’t watch your show last week because I was not eating the right foods. Now I’m back on track.

It is not unusually for long term low carb eaters to have the highest glucose level of the day in the morning. In heavy carb eaters their muscles help soak up glucose and store it. With low carb eaters those muscles are using fat not carbs for fuel and simply do not want the glucose. So wake up release from your liver is not immediately used. I often have glucose in the mid nineties to just over 100 in the morning. But my A1C runs in the high fours to about 5%. Last year while waiting for cataract surgery my glucose had got into the low seventies after fasting for the surgery and the nurse panic and gave me glucose. People who are in ketose can safely get lower glucose levels because the heart and brain are using ketones. I have been low carb for 3 years now. It is a life style.

It is me. My morning fasting glucose increased from 110 to 130 while my hba1c decreased from 6.4 to 5.4 through intermittent fasting.

Fasting sugar high is also related with sleep quality..Excellent topic..One of doc told that Fasting below 140 should not be worried if rest of the day BS under control.

Two things to look into are Dawn Phenomenon and Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR). Both can cause a high morning BG. BUT! if this doctor has not run a C-peptide and a GAD antibody test, get it done. What you are seeing is very common in type 1 diabetics and you might be misdiagnosed which is also very common. 50% of all new Type 1 diabetics are over the age of 30. I was 62.

It is so important for people, especially those recently diagnosed with T2D, to get the right information regarding diet. Low carb is definitely the path to follow if we want to reduce glucose and insulin levels, but there are too many people on YouTube putting out videos in which they are giving bad advice to diabetics. I saw one recently where this nutritionist is talking about foods that are safe for diabetics, and she says that white potatoes are okay, as long as you eat the skin. Fiber content does not make all foods safe. I am thankful to those who guide us in the right path, but checking blood glucose becomes an extremely important part of reducing BG, especially when you want to do the right thing for your health. I believe that many people on YouTube are misleading us for the purpose of keeping us on medication. T2Ds, be careful, and ask God to help you as you search for the right answers.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to labcorp. For bloodwork to see where my A1C's at? And I'm guessing, it'll at least be in the 5's?! Thanks Mostly, To Your 'Beat Diabetes' Videos!

Your video is very encouraging and helpful, can you do a video on what to buy and look for in grocery shopping for the foods to buy, when trying to beat diabetes.

Thank you Dennis for another great video!
At the beginning of the year I had an A1C of 10.9 3 months later I had a A1C of 5.6 I recently had my A1C checked again down to 5.0. I contribute this to listening to you and others with the low carb high fat diet and me whose consciously taking steps to changing my diet. I don't believe that this is hard to do but it definitely takes a new mindset.
Thank you again for allowing God to work through you to affect so many people!
