My HbA1c was 8.5. Three months doing strict Keto and it dropped to 5.5. I also dropped 50 pounds. Low carb works for me.

As a nurse, I can say this is a very good explanation for patients. With any chronic disease, patient education plays a critical role in maintaining optimal health. If you can get a patient to feel like they have a degree of control over their medical condition you have done a great service for them.

My A1C was hovering in the high 6's to low 7's for many years. My Dr warned me I needed to take control of my diet and start to exercise or I would need to go on medicine for it. I ignored him because it was hovering there for years without change. Then it suddenly jumped to 10.1 and I was put on insulin and metformin. I guess that was the wake up call I needed to kick my butt into action. I went on a ketogenic diet and started walking at least a half hour a day, usually closer to an hour a day, and I've been doing some light weight training.. I also have dropped 50 lbs. My A1C is now down to 5.6 and at 64 yrs old, I'm in the best shape of my life. I wish I had done this years ago, but better late then never.

In August I left the hospital with a blood count of 17.8
Waking up every morning since then depressed anxiety I was so upset I wasn't even going to monitor my blood count
Had people come in to clean up my cupboard take whatever they want it now everything is clean and empty so after hundreds of dollars I bought nothing but the best foods diabetic foods I'm still depressed.
I excepted an invitation to go out for Thanksgiving I had nothing to say ate what I should've eaten And said my prayers before ate.
Knowing my sister is in on insulin she did my count was 6.8 I went out on the balcony and cried and cried couldn't believe what good food the right food has done for me now I am a 6.3 and doing okay and happy and no more crying thank you for helping me because I listen to you every day I finally got my own monitor finally, , !!
have a very nice evening and hugs to your family for me thanks again you're a pretty good Doctor 💕👍🏼🌺

My A1c was out of range and my doctor prescribed insulin. I couldn't stick myself so I gave up all sugar, especially HFCS, and lost 75 lbs. My A1c is now close to 6.5! B/P 120/70!

READ..I REVERSED MY TYPE 2 IN 3 MONTHS....Just a little story. Dr., I discovered your videos and have watched many of them. On April 11 I went to the hospital for a kidney stone. Had blood pressure readings of 220/115 and sugar level of 390. Obviously I was diagnosed with diabetes with an initial A1C of 12.6. Doctor put me on 500 mg metformin 2X a day, Rebelsus once in the morning and 30mg Pioglitazone once a day. In addition I did the following: a tbsp of Extra virgin olive oil EVERY morning (for 3 months), a glass of apple cider vinegar with water b4 every dinner (for the last 5 weeks b4 next A1C test), and 1 clove of garlic b4 bedtime (about 2 months b4 next test). Once again my initial A1C was 12.6 I just received my A1C result today (August 1) and it was down to 5.6-inside NORMAL levels. Thank you for your advice. People, it took me 3 months to get my A1C back to normal..Take these steps and it can happen to you too. Also, I consumed ZERO sugar during this entire time. Had Salmon twice a week, started eating scallops once a week and many chicken dishes with SUGAR FREE stir fry sauce. I even indulged in an Islands hamburger once a week for lunch (wheat bun and a side salad, NO FRIES). 1 to 2 pieces of fruit a day and 3 times a week i had greek yogurt with blueberries for breakfast...Switched out to sourdought bread as well. If I could do it, anybody can. Oh yeah, in 2020 i weighed 238 lbs. On April 11, at the hospital i weighed 209...Today I am down to about 188. My AVERAGE blood sugar count on my last test was 114

This is the best exlpaination about A1c that I have had. I have been a type two diabetic now for 20 years and none of my Doctor's have given me an explanation as clear as this.

his My son was diagnosed type 1 diabetic on September 28, 2020. His a1c was 15 when he was diagnosed and 10 days ago the tested again and it was 13.5. We can't get an endocrinologist at this time due to no one accepting new patients so I'm very grateful that I found you so I can get some education for him. God Bless you!

We need someone like you in Ontario, not to face the patients but to monitor and guide practitioners.

I was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic at age of 26. Told I 'might' see my 35th birthday. I asked my PCP how aggressively we could treat my case. I'm 79 years old and since we began checking A1c several years ago, they have been between 6.o% and 6.6%. I have occasional low glucose readings once or twice a month. Overall, I believe I'm alive today because of having 6 meals a day with testing before each meal. I’ve discovered that metabolism changes throughout the day. I count carbs for each meal and calculate my Lispro dosage based on Carbs with a variable metabolism factor. I keep written records extensively, and am using a Dexcom G6 CGM. I also take 18 units of Lantis every 12 hours. Sort of like piloting a Jumbo Jet through a hurricane manually without instruments. However, taking the leadership of my medical team was, and is what has kept me going all this tme. When my time comes, I expect to die of old age. 😎

Watching from UK . I'm a type 2 diabetic for 22 years.. Relied on tablets and today I have realised that I'm obsessed with low blood sugar reading. According to my age it can be dangerous so from now on I will listen to Dr Ali's advise and and go for bit higher blood sugar and be relaxed about bit increased blood sugar .Although my GP was telling me to do the same . Anyway this is the best explanation I have heard so far. My thanks to this young doctor for this valuable video

I brought my a1c from 12.1 down to a consistent 6.4 without using any diabetes meds. I was started on them but through google university I researched my butt off and found I was not willing to deal with the negative effects of metformin and I had an allergic reaction to the stronger med they gave me. I achieved this through diet by adopting the Keto way of eating and I dont follow it strictly but follow it pretty strongly.

Keep your A1c at 5.8 or lower to stay very healthy. Change your diet if it is higher than that. Don't snack between meals.
