The Ultimate Drinking Guide (with Lemmy Kilmister)

The Ultimate Drinking Guide with Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead
It was produced by Brainpool for the MTV Show "Kuttner." with host Sarah Kuttner. The idea for the "Drinking Guide" came from our brillant author Eric PfeiI when the opportunity came up to meet Lemmy. I conducted this interview on October 20th, 2005 before the Motörhead-concert at Columbia Halle in Berlin. It was just too good to mould away in my video-archive so I share it here . Please excuse the poor quality i just had a bad DVD-rip. Thanks for the wise words Lemmy and rest in peace!

I opened for Motorhead in the 80's. Drinking with Lemmi is very simple. Accept the fact that he's gonna be the big dog and you're the puppy. He walked in backstage with the gallon of Jack that he walked around with, and says "You ready? Have a shot, mate"....So, I take a healthy shot that made my eyes water, and hand it back, and he takes this glug glug glug pounder without batting an eye. He didn't twitch, or nothing!!! I think I had to pick up my jaw to look as cool as him right then, and he wished me a good set and off he went. He was the nicest guy I ever met out there in the chaos.

Countless people have said they never once saw Lemmy incapacitated or out of control whilst under the influence of anything, a true master of his art

Unfortunately one of the worst feelings in the world is waking up both hungover and heartbroken...

Seen Motörhead 5 times. It was both an honor and a privilege to say that I’ve been in the same room as Lemmy.

In Greece heavy drinkers who know their art always have a glass for water next to their drinking glass. Staying hydrated while getting drunk lets you end the night much more pleasantly.

I was at Motörhead’s first gig at West Runton Pavilion in Norfolk. I was 16. He came into the pub and was trying to get to the bar. He then said, what does a rock star need to do to get a drink round here. What a legend. I’ve loved him and his band ever since that day.

I'm taking these words of advice and living by them. Thank you, Lemmy.

If you didn't know him, you'd look at him and expect words of wisdom like "Start drinking in the morning, don't show emotion, don't be a pussy, you ought to be tough...". But no, he drops something like "have half a bottle of white wine and [...] be sad" which is such a great piece of advice.

Never forget Lemmy talking about when his doctor told him he has to stop drinking so much Jack Daniels and coke, so he switched to vodka and orange .

I do have a little trouble of hearing due to excess of racing cars and loud music, but I think I only understood six words that he said. I guess it's six better than Ozzy.
