If you're just making plain Minute rice like I just did.... Once you see some little bubbles, it's hot enough to dump the rice in, stir it a bit to get all the rice evenly wet, then cover and remove from heat. Don't leave it on the burner. Let it cool off with the lid on, then check it after 10 minutes and it should be fluffy and good to go.

I've made with Minute Rice this way many times, and it never comes out soft. What am I doing wrong? I'm following these directions to the T.

Trying to make my sister and I some dinner and I've never made my own rice before I'm just worried it will be undercooked

Our Savory Recipes, Using Minute Rice and Campbell's Condensed Soups. "G" & "C".
For Campell's Condensed Cream of Celery Soup Casserole, and using 5 Minute Rice;
In a medium sauce pan, add to 2 cups of 5 Minute Rice, which was made according to instructions, (1 cup of boiling water to 1 cup of dry 5 Minute Rice, remove from heat, and cover for 5 minutes) the following:
One (1) can of Campell's Condensed Cream of Celery Soup.
Do not add milk, or water. Yet.
Add 3 slices of Braum's American Cheese.
Add cracked black pepper, to your taste.
Add 1/2 cup of frozen peas. *Please, boil them "the frozen peas" to a softened stage first, then drain them, and then add them to the rice and soup mixture.
Add a very small amount of Vitamin D milk, to "lightly thin" the mixture.
Another Variation, and using Campbell's Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup instead, with the 5 Minute Rice;
Add a can of drained chicken.
Add some steamed broccoli.
Add the Braum's American Cheese.
Add Vitamin D Milk to thin, and cracked black pepper.
And Finally;
For Tuna Casserole, using Campbell's Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup, and 5 Minute Rice; or
(Using (2) cups of made, and drained, elbow macaroni. *Remember, 1 cup of dry macaroni makes 2 cups of ready macaroni.
Add (1) can of drained Sunkist Tuna.
I love the Sunkist Tuna in oil. Where did that go to? I guess we have to use the Sunkist Tuna in water.
Add (1) can of Campell's Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup.
Add the Braum's American Cheese, and crushed black pepper, and lightly thin with Vitamin D milk, as usual.
(Basically, we use the same ingredients for all of these side dishes.)
*Place on as many hand crushed Original Style Lay's Chips as a topper, as you wish!
You can further warm, or rewarm these dishes, using a buttered baking dish, and after making the dishes on the stove top.
In your preheated 350 degree oven, covered or uncovered, heat, or reheat these dishes for 15-20 minutes to a hot temperature.
