Kenton T. Derstine, MDiv, DMin will be speaking on "Other Sides of Self-Care: Exploring the Contribution of Bowen Theory to Trauma Awareness and Resilience" at the Opening Day Conference: The Other Side of Trauma: A Family Systems View.

“Self-care” is a common reminder to therapists, ministers, parents and those persons supporting the elderly and sick stressed by the additional challenges of the current pandemic. Much of the commonly offered advice is beneficial to many. This presentation will explore how a family systems view offer perspectives and practices that may be of unique value to many.

The Bowen Center is a non for profit dedicated to the development of Bowen family systems theory into a science of human behavior; to assist individuals, families, communities, and organizations in addressing major life changes through understanding and improvising human relationships.

The center carries out its mission locally, nationally, and internationally through training and online programs, conferences, research, clinical services, and its website and publications. The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family is an educational, research, and clinical center incorporated as a 501©(3) tax-exempt organization in the District of Columbia.
