Despite the bad, I bought a brand new Rubicon Gladiator last month - fully loaded, in firecracker red - and I LOVE IT! My first new vehicle in 21 years! I call her Ruby Red. The inherent flaw with the two battery system is that when one of the two batteries begins to fail, typically the auxiliary battery, it cannibalizes the other battery by continually trying to charge from it. This can happen even with the vehicle turned off, because they are connected in parallel most of the time. Then, with little to no warning, you could find yourself stranded, or at the very least witnessing a bizarre electronics light show on your dash cluster that looks like the Las Vegas strip on crack.

Rob you are absolutely correct.Auto stop/start will still work with the Aux batt removed.The main batt will power the ESS.You should replace the old main Batt (h6 type) with an h7 type which is a larger batt since you still are using the ESS and the main batt is now providing all the voltages that the aux batt supplied during the ESS cycles.The cost between the old and upgraded batt is minimal

I had a 23 2 door JL and traded for a Gladiator. The reason was b/c the wife sold her taco for a Bronco and I needed something that would tow our 3, 500lb camper. Between the two, the 2 door was much more fun and peppy, the Gladi is nice, but Id rather have the shorter wheel base imo.

I loved my Jeep Wrangler. We sold it because we were offered a more the we paid for it. I miss a lot and regret selling it. I would absolute would buy another 2 door Jeep Wrangler if the price was right. We recently purchased a High Velocity Clearcoat 23 Jeep Willys Gladiator. My husband & I are sharing it and we love it! I love Jeeps because you can go anywhere in them.

My wife wants to get a Gladiator some day. She's not quite done having fun with her Ram truck though and I can't blame her. It's got the Hemi engine in it which is no longer available in those. So maybe in a couple years we'll add a Gladiator to our driveway. I'm enjoying the hell out of my '24 Wrangler though. So glad I traded up from my GC. It's a lot of fun to drive.

You are correct, the ESS was just transferred to the main battery.

I've had CJs, Wranglers and now a Gladiator. I liked each one in it's own unique way. I've been happy with the Gladiator's versatility. I've hauled engines, towed trailers and been off-road. It's been a lot of fun...plus I throw the sunrider back and it's convertible.

There's an easy fix to bypass the Aux battery that many other people have done. Just remove the positive Aux cable attached to the main battery and bend it back, tape it up and zip tie it out of the way and then remove fuse #42 and also make sure you have something to disable the start/Stop feature - done; You don't even have to remove the Aux battery. I've done it in my girlfriends wrangler and my gladiator and they are working perfectly fine without any issues.

Changing the batteries wasn’t that bad. The module to bypass the ESS worked like a champ for over 50, 000 miles. Then I traded it off. Don’t know where it went but they got a good Gladiator. With a ESS you have to turn on.

It is my understanding that the aux delete (f42, neg cable) sole purpose is to eliminate the drain on the main battery when the aux goes bad, leaving the vehicle stranded. The ESS still functions, so turning it off, be it manually or a device such as a taser, eliminates the need for an aux battery. There are numerous reasons ESS won't work, such as cabin heating or cooling, or even just battery charging. I suspect in your video when you did the mod and proclaimed the ESS was no longer working, was in fact a condition of the system having not been met. By doing the delete, and turning off ESS, the vehicle works like as if the whole stupid idea was never there.

Aloha Rob. I won't doubt that you may or may not get a Jeep Gladiator in the future as the Antenna is in the windshield. Yet, you're enjoying the Wrangler that you currently have. Plus, your Wrangler has a better engine than the Gladiator.
