Interestingly, the majority of Tiger II losses were by their own crews. If they suffered a mechanical failure, they had to abandon the tank because they never developed the capability to recover them in the field.
So, if they had to abandon it, they destroyed it first so it couldn't be used against them. So the majority of losses were due to their crews blowing them up.

Comparing how much it cost the soviets to make the t34s and is-2s compared to how expensive the panthers and tigers where this was a absolute w for the soviets, 17 tiger 2s would have been devastating for Germans armoured vehicles
