I do my own bios updates through the bios directly as a rule. These “new” software package installers are great thou for those less technically inclined, however aren’t infallible.

once again mike you done it again i needed 3 software and bio update although i did check a couple of months ago, i am technically there but they seem to pull out some new updates independently which is fine but it good to know that there is a scan to make sure you are updated and do something else while you download them as i am always busy as a carer of my son so thanks mate i also done his computer due having a msi board cheers mukka.

I have this feature on my x370 Biostar motherboard. I used it a few time, but was more worried doing it in Windows than directly in bios. Too bad it doesn't keep the common previous setting like fan curve or xmp. It could have created a config file before updating, and offer you to apply it after first boot. That would save some time especially if you fine tune your memory timing...

Be very careful with letting MSI update your bios through the MSI Centre if you have a Z490 motherboard. There have been many instances where Z490 motherboards were bricked by doing so. Myself, I tried to update to the latest bios version for my Z490 Unify motherboard back in October 2021 and after re-booting, the CPU LED stayed lit, indicating an issue with the BIOS. Luckily the Unify has a Flash BIOS on the back of the motherboard and I was able to flash the bios with an earlier version. But those who have Z490 motherboards that don't have a Flash Bios button had to RMA their boards.

I did this and it worked great! I had a problem installing windows 11 because of the TPM 2.0 requirement and updating the bios took care of the issue.

For the LOVE OF GOD…THANK YOU! My MSI Z690 Edge DDR4 would not flash with new BIOS no matter what USB stick I used with any format. I was on the edge of losing my shit. haha THIS very simple fix resolved all my issues.

dont forget to unninstall MSI center after that, it installs tons of services with telemetry that spy even if you close center

Hi, Mike. I tried the MSI Center, and it updated my drivers with no problems. However, when I tried to update the BIOS, my system locked on Error Code 22. That's a Device Manger code, so something in the hardware didn't like what the MSI Center was doing with the BIOS. I cleared the CMOS and the system rebooted, but now I have to put all of my overclocking numbers back in. It was worth a try, but I think I'll do BIOS updates the old fashioned way. LOL.
