Apple today announced that it has updated the 24-inch iMac with the M4 chip, which debuted in the iPad Pro earlier this year. This upgrade comes around one year after the previous iMac with the M3 chip was released.

will never understand why they removed the 27"? Imac should have a 32" option at this point.

Note: iMac can be configured up to 2TB of SSD storage and the color choices are the same but the shades are different.

Perhaps we should have made this more clear but it wasn't just the base level 8GB of RAM we had a problem with it was also the base level 256GB of storage, in this day an age we expect a minimum of 16GB of RAM AND 512GB storage and we don't want to pay £200 to upgrade per each additional measly 8GB of RAM and 256GB - 512GB of storage.
To upgrade to a reasonable spec of 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, makes the iMac £2300 Thats just insane !

My 27" Intel iMac is still getting things done but its going on 5 years old so, , , maybe M4 iMac would be nice change in 2025.Just wish it was a 27" M4

They released the 16 gigs minimum as if it's some kind of grand and generous thing. They've been very unethically shipping outdated-from-day-one hardware with 8 gigs of RAM for years! That should've changed by 2020 at the LATEST.

Also SSD storage - you can't upgrade it, what do you think you can do with 256gb? Or 512gb? It's just wholly unethical. Give people a 1TB minimum and charge 100 dollars for 2TB, with the ability to go 4TB.

These specs are just insulting. Even my smartphone has 512gb memory + 12gb RAM as default. And the iMac is a damn DESKTOP COMPUTER.

It appears the M1 Pro (base gpu version) is still better than the M4 GPU although the power efficiency is definitely greater. So in terms of desktop, it may be a bit moot.
I look forward to these in terms of laptops, especially the airs. THANK YOU FOR THE 16GB RAM BASE!

Assuming the MBP is getting announced tomorrow (10/29/24), do you think the release date will also be 11/08? I’ve been without my MacBook for almost 2 weeks and idk if I can go another week and half to get one lol #firstworldproblems
