In this video I'm going to show you how to perform the dumbbell clean and press, a combination exercise that combines dumbbell clean and a push press.

In this video, the two arm (double) dumbbell power clean is demonstrated, which does differ slightly from the full squat clean with a dumbbell as the lifter does not fully squat in the receiving position. From there, the push press or strict shoulder press is performed to take the dumbbells to the overhead position with the shoulders.

With that, here's what you'll learn in today's video:

First, I'll show you the proper positioning in the dumbbell clean and how to set yourself up so that the dumbbells are in start position to maximize power and minimize stress and strain on the lower back.

Next, I'll review how to properly set your feet, position your hips, and ensure proper hip, knee, and ankle movement as you perform the dumbbell clean. It is important that you keep you back active as you stand upwards.

Next, we will review how to properly maintain foot pressure, load the legs, and reinforce spinal stability to maintain a flat back and vertical pull.

From there, I'll then demonstrate how to perform either a dumbbell shoulder press or a dumbbell push press to take the weights from the front rack position to the overhead lock out position.

Throughout the entire video, I will provide a various view of the muscles, set up position, and proper execution of repetitions during the dumbbell clean.

I don't like to watch when they curl at the top of their clean. The dumbbell movement should be vertical.
