This work by Barber is sad & beautiful at the same time. It has a lot of depth to it!! It is somber yet hopeful! Adagio for Strings was played at the funeral of Albert Einstein & Princess Grace of Monaco.

Years ago, Honolulu Symphony lost the young lady who was first violin to cancer. They performed this piece in memory of her, the first chair empty.
