I understand why everyone talks about how sad this song makes them feel, but I think we are all missing something with the beauty of this piece. There is a point in the music where the notes get higher and higher and when you feel like the notes can't get any higher, they go one note higher! Its beautiful! It reminds me of our resilience, strength, and joy! Remember, out of the darkness, no matter how deep, comes light!

My husband's favorite classical song, and when he was just buried last week, this song was playing- as he was put into the ground. 26 wonderful married years with the smartest, most handsome, precious man ever. I still can't believe this horrible covid 19 virus took him from us. I will love you forever Darryll Eli Salvadori 💗

If angels were crying for humanity…this would be the background music

As our helicopter lifted away from our company outpost in Kandahar province in 2011, I heard this song in my head and tears flowed down my cheeks. In one year, I had seen men I was responsible for perish. I had seen the cruel suffering of the local population and at times had participated in their suffering. I witnessed the most heroic and selfless acts by men who were little more than boys. We just tried to survive, and not everyone did. Some lost their lives, some their limbs, and many their minds. I pray I may never have to kill or harm another human being as long as I live. When that helicopter left and carried me on the first leg of the long journey home, I felt as though we had all left something there. I could not think of what that was until years later, but eventually I realized it was our innocence. May peace and mercy prevail in a world so easily consumed by hatred and fear. May God forgive us all for the hardness in our hearts

So amazing to watch people in Vienna - a very cosmopolitan city - listening to a piece written by an American long ago, performed by Austrians, conducted by a Venezuelan, and moved by the same feelings. We have to remember that we all have more in common than not.

I remember the first time I really listened to this Adagio. It was the movie, Platoon. My brother died in Vietnam. William Howard Shaller. He was a tank commander. Caught outside the tank, when gunfire erupted. He ran for the tank. The first time I saw Willem Dafoe running out of the jungle ... the pain and tears would not stop. They still do not stop.

This masterpiece is in remembrance of my son, a young U.S. Naval aviator whose plane crashed at sea off the coast of Bosnia, 31 years ago.

I lost my Dad recently. The first time I heard this song it felt like he was giving me a hug from heaven and then stepping back and saying "Son, I am ok now....go live your life, I'll be waiting"

This piece perfectly represents the pain of being a living person. Life is so dreadfully painful, but people just keep on moving foreward. Just ordinary people are heroes. We have to love others and be grateful for the good in life.
