It feels so good, and so bad all at once. It's the most beautiful and the most painful. I cry every time I hear it.

Years after I first heard this piece, it still amazes me. Such a simple rhythmic structure, such a slow piece, and yet it conveys so many emotions. How Barber pulled it off is a mystery to me, but it brought this work to us

The more I read it, the more I play it; I find something in it I missed before.

Such an emotional, evocative piece.

Samuel Barber's style/music is so varied...I have a hard time pinning him down as a composer. Everyone mostly knows him by this piece, but he has such a wide collection of works that are so contrasting in character and style. I highly recommend checking out his other works if you enjoyed this piece.

I like how clean and clear the scoring is. The one time I tried to perform this, I was going nuts with the meter changes and solfege.

For me it will always be the most beautiful piece ever written.

I know of nothing else in music like this piece. It is grief, and love and hope, and loss, and reflection and memory, and

So moving. If this doesn't touch your soul. Nothing

I was fortunate enough to sing this piece.. or rather the vocal equivalent of this composition, in college. The melody, counterpoint and overall beauty of this masterpiece never gets boring, although I have heard it perhaps hundreds of times, in rehearsal, and then by freewill choice of wanting to hear it again, and again..
Thank you Young Kim for posting such a clear and ledgible version of this masterpiece !!

For some reason this song kind of reminds me of one of the songs from the Lolita movie, I think it was called Love in the Morning? Especially around the 5 minute mark. These airy sad songs always get to me

HallMonitor...if you have the mind of a 9 year old, it won’t be moving for you. Wait until you’re a little older.

I still don't understand this piece, why is it so moving to everyone? Could it be the overuse of the style in modern film? Honestly I find it rather humorous, like it's supposed to be ironically sad.
