As a child, I didn't understood she was dancing with the ghosts of her dead sisters. When I grew up and understood who the young girls were, it broke my heart.

This song will always break me. Not just because of how sad it is but because of how heartbreaking the reality is!!!

I just realized that, since many people (especially the rich and royal people with resources) can live well into their 90s, if Anastasia hadn't suffered the horrible fate she and her family met at the hands of the Bolsheviks, she might've been alive when the movie came out.

Imagine being the Dowager Empress and outliving all the younger members of your family by 10 years.

I've watched documentaries in both Russian and English... the real story is truly heart breaking. The horror they must've experienced in those last moments. Not much has changed since then. Humans are still filled with so much hate.

Maria (Anastasia's sister) was so beautiful...

They died the same day. Anastazja was believed to survive, but her skeleton was found in 2009

I just learned that despite being Russian and knowing Russian, the Romanov sisters spoke English to each other in private. This was mainly due to the fact their mother was a German princess, who grew up speaking English as a descendant of Queen Victoria. So IRL Anastasia could have sung this song in English😮❤❤

This song was my late friend's favorite. We live apart. Although we were not very close, she was one of the few people I could talk to in high school. One day, I heard this song on TV and I thought of looking for her on Facebook because I missed her so much and then one of our former classmates told me the news that she passed away due to an illness. I'll always remember her because of this song. RIP Klim 🩷

It’s insane how many tragedies in history are turned into folk tales and stories like this that sort of romanticize the reality. I think of Salem and the witch trials, the romanovs, Pocahontas, etc.

May God Comfort their Souls and Let Them Rest in Peace. It Was So Tragically Sad for the Romanovs and everyone Once in December!😢

It’s hard to watch now, knowing the truth about Anastasia and her brother. I always secretly hoped she had somehow survived until their remains were finally discovered. How those monsters could have killed those innocent children sickens me to my core! And to think their own family in England wouldn’t help them, knowing their fate! Now that’s really sickening!

What a tragic ending to the real people's lives. Whenever I see anything related to this family, I can't help but imagine how scared they were. 😢

It’s amazing looking at this as an artist how much they could capture the fashion nad personal fealures of each person in the characters they drew.

This was one of the best movies ever made in any matter. Is so beautiful.

As a child when this movie came out, the Romanov mystery of Anastasia was still that, a mystery. At the time the movie came out, she still hadn't been found, so the movie gave kids (and adults too I suppose) some magical hope that maybe she was spared? Maybe she escaped?

The movie came out in 1997, but it wasn't until 2007 that it was confirmed that Anastasia's body had indeed been found. I like to think this movie is now an alternate reality where at least one of them survived. 😢

Also: Olga Romanov was born 1895, not 1985 😅❤

If you noticed, on Maria Feodorovna's head is the same tiara that Queen Elizabeth II wore at her wedding.

This movie. And especially this one song really hold a special place in my heart since childhood

Idk if someone mentioned this but the right way to write women surnames is not “Romanov” but “Romanova”. So it’s Anastasia RomanovA and so on. I mean just funny to know, no disrespect to the author
