Like I get that he was a bad ruler but killing the children was brutal. They even killed the dog...the dog can't claim a throne

I like that they posted this video exactly 102 years after the family died

My dad named me Anastasia after the movie. Imagine my horror when I found out what actually happened to them

Please, let us remember the children. Olga, Tatiana, Maria Anastasia and Alexei were innocent in this situation and brutally murdered

they said Rasputin was from Serbia lmao
It's 'Siberia'. Close in name, but very different places.

The voice of the person telling these stories is so calming.

Hey, fun fact: Alexei had been taking a type of Aspirin (a blood thinned) and Rasputin stopped this. And basically they thought he was magic cuz he stopped giving their hemophiliac son blood thinners!

Maria was always my favorite of OTMA, she was apparently incredibly strong. When no advisors could be found, she was the one who carried Alexei. She could lift him with one arm. She was incredibly compassionate, and a dedicated protector of her brother and her parents. That’s why she volunteered to go to Siberia before her siblings. In a way, despite the horribleness of it, it’s almost fitting in a way that her and Alexei were buried together, and are still apart from the rest of the family. It’s almost like Maria is still saying “I can protect Alexei.” And I bet her parents would be comforted to know that she’s there with him.

It's unhealthy how much I know about the Romanov family. Literally none of this was new information to me, but I'm still ecstatic to consume it.

Apparently, it’s actually easy to explain Rasputin’s supposed miracles. For one, he had an amount of knowledge on plants and herbs, meaning he knew to tell the palace doctor to not give Alexei Aspirin, considering it’s a blood thinner. As to lessening his pain, he wasn’t calming Alexei, he was calming Alexandra. Children, especially young children like Alexei often have a heightened emotional state when their parents are distressed. With Rasputin having an ability to reassure and calm the Tsarina, it has the reciprocal affect of helping to calm Alexei, and thus reducing his pain and allowing his body to focus on repair, rather then stress or pain

My great grandpa was serving the imperial army in the cossack division and when the uprising started, he was on an execution list. He and his brother started running away towards Estonia where he met my great grandma. Eventually they ended up in Yugoslavia while planning to run away to Greece. They liked the language, it reminded them of home yet it was far away enough from Russia. And that's the story of my family

Rasputin was born in Siberia, not Serbia.

I’m sure the cousin wishes he would have at least let the children flee to Britain.

Nicholas Romanov was doomed since his childhood because of his father. It would've been wiser for him to have passed leadership to his brother the moment he had the chance to, but who knows.

What's tragic is that Queen Victoria didn't want Alix to marry Nicholas because she knew it would not be safe for her there. She predicted Russia was too dangerous. I'm sure Alix didn't regret marrying the love of her life and having five beautiful children but I wonder if she ever thought about what her grandmother said to her, when she was being held captive with her family, especially towards the end of their lives.
