The executions were horrific . However, it should be noted that the terms of their confinement were not harsh. They were kept together as a family. They had a doctor with them. They had three servants. The local nuns delivered fresh milk and eggs every day. They ate at table four times per day. They still had wine with their meals. Their treatment was far more humane than any prisoner received under Nicholas. No one left that basement room alive. People believed Anna Andersen because they desperately wanted to believe that someone, at least one of the children could have survived.

No she didn't "look just like her" and no, most of the relatives of the actual Anastasia DID NOT believe Anderson was Anastasia. Stop spreading misinformation.

The remains of the entire family are altogether in a crypt in a separate room at the Fortress of St. Peter & Paul in St. Petersburg, where the remains of all the Tsars from Ivan the Terrible onwards are also entombed.
Each day a fresh bouquet of flowers is placed on each crypt, which is watched over by security.
I was able to visit the site in the fall of 2019, just before COVID shut down all travel.

I get the fascination with princess Anastasia and why people were so eager to believe the monsters who committed the atrocities missed one or two of the children. The Grand Duchess Olga did manage to survive, and after numerous harrowing experiences she and her family made their way to Canada where they lived their lives. She despised her Royal life and with the help of the Tsar divorced her (arranged) husband and married the soldier she loved. The Tsars cousin, the Kaiser of Germany begged him to stay out of the war between Austria and Serbia. If he had listened, WWI would not have happened and the Tsars family might have lived. We'll never know.
