The fact that half the tiles on windows start menu and on Xbox Home Screen are ads should have been a pretty good indicator that they’re in the ad business

I hope that EU will force Microsoft to enable this option normally. Not everyone has Internet everywhere, every time.

With the 22H2 update, this workaround was broken. If you kill the Network Flow it will just tell you the internet crashed and restart it and circles back to the same position.
INSTEAD, from the command prompt, type *OOBE\BYPASSNRO* and hit Enter. It will appear to start the entire startup process over. But, this time when you Shift+F10, it will go directly into Local Account setup.

Those scenarios mentioned at about 4:30 actually happen a LOT in outback regions of Australia, where the only access to internet is via sattelite or low bandwidth adsl connection (where the exchange can be 30km away ... or more)

Being a former computer tech I always raised concerns when windows 8, 8.1 & 10 made it difficult to use without a MSA. It's sad to say but I just don't think they're going to listen without a legal organization drawing a line in the sand and yanking MS's head out of that same sand to see the line drawn.

Glad that some big YT channels actually bring it up. I think there should be more videos like this. Honestly, it gets ridiculous because now you can't even use an alarm clock app without creating an account! And poping up messeges on a full screen telling you that they ARE collecting cookies isn't any better than just collecting them without you knowing.

If you hold shift and press F10 at the spot where you select your Wi-Fi, it will bring up the command prompt, type OOBE\BYPASSNRO when you click enter the computer will restart, when you get back to the same place it should have a "I don't have internet" Option beside the NEXT Button.😉
This should work for everyone at the moment unless they patch it.
Though assuming they'll let you type the \ key because I had that problem, but I figured a way around that and can't remember how🤔
hopefully not a problem for y'all.

P.S I'm the unfortunate soul that don't have internet at the house so I had to get creative

Dear Microsoft: give us the option to purchase your software and then leave us alone, or to be free with ads. Don't force us to have to work around your nonsense.

As a security contractor who regularly builds systems that should never have Internet access (isolated NVRs and physical access control systems) this will be quite helpful. Sharing it among all my fellow engineers. Thanks.

On update 22H2 as at today... instructions are slightly different. After ending the task as at 7:25...go back into command prompt and enter the command: OOBE\BYPASSNRO
The system will reboot and this time you will get the option to continue without internet connection

Great video, and disturbing-but-reassuring to know I'm not imagining the number of times my suggestions have mysteriously adjusted to fit a verbal conversation I had away from my computer. What a marvellous dystopia we've built for ourselves...

*There is a third way, the easiest way.*
(works on the Pro edition, doesn't work on the Home edition)

On the screen where you are being asked to choose "How would you like to set up this device?" you are given two options. Most people, since they are installing Windows on a consumer device, are going to go with the option to "Set up for personal use". That will bring up a screen asking you for the Microsoft Account credentials.
But, by choosing the option to "Set up for work or school" and then choosing "Sign-in options" on the next screen you are now presented with the option to join a domain. Choose that one. It doesn't matter if the device you're installing Windows on doesn't belong to a corporate domain, it will work regardless.

And, voila, the Microsoft Account is bypassed!

*Like this comment so other people can see it.*

If you do the setup with ethernet plugged in until the "Let's add your Microsoft account", unplug ethernet, and hit the back arrow on the add account screen, it then prompts you to create a local account.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that this guy gave us 15 minutes of solid information, and how much work he must have put into this video (e.g. the self-made clips)? Also I got windows 11 from *thekey365*

Oh I fully intend to remain on windows 10 until eol, and with Valve's work on Proton, and similar, I'll be using Linux most likely after win10 eol, unless microsoft stops trying to overstep, but I doubt it. Thankfully I'm already familiarizing myself with Linux beyond using it as a troubleshooting tool or for modifying windows when I'm "not allowed" to do something with my own PC lol

Preach it Jay!! As a Windows user, since the early DOS boot days, I can verify your statements with certainty. Until we the consumer speak up and stand firm it will only get worse, eroding our autonomy. Appreciate your voice.

Remember those times where you installed your Windows and then simply needed to tune it at your own taste instead of having to turn off and walk like on a minefield to avoid all the crap Microsoft wants for you?

You can actually make this "your account is locked" part much faster. I have a Microsoft account that I have locked out (not on purpose at the time, but Microsoft refuses to re-activate it).. It works well for making local accounts as I only have to put in the address and it'll give me the local account option.

I was so pissed when I was setting up my new laptop and saw they'd tried to force the Microsoft account, so much that I straight up might have returned the thing if there was no way around it.

I genuinely hate it here lol, I had the same experience where I was just TALKING to someone about where to eat one evening and then literally minutes later opened youtube and was getting ads for restaurants. This needs to be illegal somehow but the companies behind it are way too powerful for any politician to be willing to stand up to them.
