I'm sick of having to sign up for a Microsoft Account just to log on to my computer. in my last video I showed you got to bypass this requirement. In this video I'm going one step further and doing a definitive guide with every bypass method I currently know about.

Everything you said about ownership, privacy, and so on is correct. Local accounts are important and everyone should use them. That said, there's a method you didn't cover that is extremely easy that I recently discovered for laptops: use the function keys to put it into airplane mode. That disables internet without any need for CMD hacks :D

I agree with everything you said about being forced to have a Microsoft account. I can also see how this mandatory requirement can be an issue for computer builders and computer repair business'es. Hold on to your hats though because windows 11 has more unreasonable secrets to come!

Heartening to know that there are still easy workarounds for this. I like to believe that the developers (many of whom likely use Windows on their own personal machines) choose to quietly look the other way when tasked with patching the installer; if only for their own sanity later. It's important that we continue to make it clear to MS (as well as other companies putting soft locks on our hardware, looking at you NVIDIA) that there is a very hard line in what is acceptable to turn into a service; that line generally being the base functionality of a product with no innate need to be connected to the internet.

Wow. Super helpful, thank you. I can't stand the fact that Microsoft requires you to login with one of their accounts. I just got a chance to setup a Win11 machine for the first time and actually had to google how to bypass it. The page I found previously didnt give me 4 solutions though, so thank you for the options. For that last solution, you dont need to actually use what you are going to setup your local account as. You can just type any email with a wrong password and still get that OOPS message and bypass the login.

Another method that I've used successfully that sometimes works is hitting Alt + F4 when you get to the network connection page. It kills the Network Flow process and you can proceed with setup. Though it doesn't always work. I've also seen that the latest version of Rufus (3.19 as of this writing) allows you to create a bootable Windows 11 image that skips the telemetry setup, and it should also skip the MS account setup option. Though I haven't tested myself yet I'm going to try that one out to see if it works. I image a lot of machines working at an MSP, so having fast and simple ways to bypass this stuff is very helpful.

Windows is awesome for certain businesses. We use it at work that have to show compliance with some data protection and ISOs i don't understand and the windows ecosystem apparently fits the bill. Teams and sharepoint make collaboration so easy. For my home, though i am linux. Even my new pc will be linix only, for the first time.
