Brilliantly showing that if parents overdo it with their strictness, kids will just learn to hide things from them.

As asian I can feel your pain. Especially tea cups you CANNOT even touch it. I broke a 50 years tea cup in my grandma house the other day. Fortunately she didn't care, cause she didn't liked it.

My mom always came with "don't move! Nobody come in! I'm the only one wearing house shoes!

You only get yelled at if you put the glass in the wrong bin.

My mom used to yell and pitch a fit whenever we broke anything. When I broke one of my favorite teapots I was about to cry, and my partner came running and yelled at me not to move. I was scared for a moment but... they were running to clean the glass and rescue me from it 😭😭💖 I literally was sobbing after. It was so nice to feel so cared for

"Put on your house slippers!"
Is the first thing a German mother says in that situation

I may not be Asian but as someone with a middle Eastern mom this is so true because they yell at you for 1hr straight and criticize everything you did wrong in your life and how they didn't raise you right basically telling you a disappointment and then 2 mins later acting like they are a loving parent and totally didn't emotionally abuse you 2 mins ago 😂😂

I think this is a very important lesson for children, it helps to get their priorities straight. That breaking stuff is not the end of the world, that making mistakes is okay, and that material things aren't more important than living beings. If you ever see people jumping in the water after a lost phone or so, there is usually the voice of an angry parent in their head, overriding any clear thought. You don't want your kid having this mindset, you don't want them to panic in such situations.

As an Asian person, I feel like hiding "bad things", or perceived bad things from my parents is my second nature. Never give your parents bad news. You will get scolded, nagged, reminded, made to feel guilty for the rest of your life.

She was willing to sacrifice everything to hide his "crimes", even at the risk of being caught in the scolding! That's love!
