I’m German and I got my own apt at 17! I officially moved out at 18, but my boyfriend, with whom I got the apartment, moved out with me at 25 :) so together we’re pretty average 😂

South African, moved out at 21 technically. Was out at 18 moved back at 20 during covid when I got sick. Been out on own for 4 years. Had help with medical aid and other things till 22, became independent fully at 23. If i didn't moce out i would not have pushed my skills and career and be where i am now.

But many South Africans live with parents till 30s due to financial needs.

I had a plastic camping table the first two years to eat and work at.

Moving out pushes you to accomplish more faster.

Moving out and leaving parents behind on their own makes me feel guilty but thats whats life is if you won't move you won't make progess sometimes, atleast asian parents do care about their children and they are ready to do anything just to make us smile, thats why we asian feel sorrow when waving goodbye to our parents

I am German and moved out with 18.
Today that is more difficult. Parents have the duty to pay for their children until they finished their professional education (including university). But that also means: parents have the right to choose to fullfill this obligation by letting the child live at home. A lot of young people would like to move out earlier, but can’t afford it.

I felt the desire to move into my own home, in the netherlands, when i was 21-22 years. thing is I was lucky enough to get a job that paid well. So I saved up for 3-4 years under my parent's roof. Then immediately bought a 145.000 small apartment.

I'm German and I moved out of my parents house aged 17.
I moved into a dormitory and shared a room there. At 20 I had finished my training and started working in a different place, using the dorm room they let. At 22 I moved into an apartment, rented independent of employment.

Several of my kids in there mid 20s still live with us because it’s too expensive for them right now 😢 and I don’t expect two of them to leave ever because of health reasons, but we’ve been prepared for that since they were born 😊

Americans can’t afford to move out because our housing market and student debt is insane. People with masters degrees live with their parents. Adults are living with their parents until the age when their parents would be moving in with them anyway.

Silly. Economic outlook for young people has gotten worse. Smart move is to build up finances by living at home, assuming a functional family.

Strange. I don't know almost anyone in Germany who moved out later than 21. I moved out at 19, my cousin at 18.

i’m 21 and my bf of 3 years is 22, for some people it could sound weird but we still live with our parents and not together because we are saving up for a mortgage deposit to buy our own flat instead of renting cause in this economy rent costs are constantly getting higher and higher and in the end renting for few years will cost the same as mortgage payments for the same amount of time. but we live in russia not germany/europe 🤷🏼‍♀️

Generaly depends of the country and systém of public (state or council rent) flat...in Nordic countries it is developed the best way, that is why people in these countries leave parents place earliest...on other way Croatiaeor Italy has problém with this public flat systém, that is why they stay with their parents longer time...and generaly sometimes you do nôt reach level that bank Can you suggest hypothec

Moved back in at 26 during the pandemic after having moved out at 24.
I am getting a second degree.
Unless I win the lottery housing-wise, I will stay very long.
Housing has been scarce in the region I have grown up in for decades and other regions sadly caught up.
I don't mind living with my mom. We are mostly on the same page, I just wish, it was easier to afford something with a few additional sqm.
