How I Tricked My Brain To Not Fear Failure

One of the biggest questions I get asked is how to get past the fear of failure. The answer is to ask yourself what failure REALLY is and do this exercise. It's pretty much impossible to be afraid afterwards.

This was a key behind me becoming successful, building a business and becoming an efficient entrepreneur.

This guy’s videos are by far the most useful for any “self help” content on YouTube.

Alex, I wanted to say thank you again! I won $150 on the stream the other day. My wife and I both lost our jobs in tourism because of covid. I'm an expat living in Mexico and there's hardly any work available, the average wage is $60 a week. You've helped me so much with all the valuable information about dopamine and now financially. You're an incredible person, thank you!

Got this sent to me by my friend.

Now, I'm only 17, and maybe I shouldn't be worried about those things yet, but I've been struggling with a lack of motivation and no plan for life since like hitting 13.

I have many "hobbies" (drawing, 3d modeling, video editing, piano) yet I can't really act on them, as I feel hopeless and helpless pretty much.

Thank you for that video and thanks to my friend Edyta who shared this video to me.

I'm 19 and developed this mindset of not fearing failure in my first couple months of doing full time learning and changing my life 8 hours a day 7 days a week starting at 18. I love you Alex but you missed a couple of the most important reasons to not fear failure, and better yet enjoy failure...
1)I personally love to fail because I know that life is not about the destination rather the journey, and the downs make the ups all that much more enjoyable and fulfilling...
"The secret of happiness, you see, is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less.” - Socrates.

2)Nothing in the world is good or bad until we deem it to be so, and it is based upon our perspective of the information that we received. One of the most important keys to TRUE success and happiness is being able to control your emotions, thoughts and actions and therefore your perspective on life.
Your perspective on life forms YOUR reality of life
If your perspective on failure is that it is bad then YOUR reality when you fail is that it is bad.
If your perspective on failure is that it is good and ok then YOUR reality when you fail is that it is good and ok.

3)Failure is a necessity and there is no way around it and it is the best way to learn. You also want to fail as much as possible quickly/early on, so you can get it out of the way when it does not have as much of a impact on your life.
Failure is the stepping stones to success.
“I think and think for months and years. Ninety-nine times, the conclusion is false. The hundredth time I am right” -Einstein

I’m getting ready to start something new very soon and as I am sometimes reviewing information about this prospect in search of repairing myself I hit the piece of information that for some reason triggers a thing in me which we all have, things that trigger us, and all of a sudden I’m overwhelmed in the doom and fear failure sets in. When that happens I stop what I’m doing, I stop looking at what I’m looking at, I stop thinking about it altogether and go do something that always brings positivity and or enjoyment or going over the information that motivated me in the first place and gave me the inspiration I can do this. Then you can see clear to start walking forward again. Like Alex says you can’t get to the mountain top in the first step you have to take many steps you might slip you might even fall but you gather yourself up whatever that takes however long it takes and you keep moving forward. Failure or not being able to do things it’s just a perspective that has been self-imposed or imposed by others so yes you will have to work sometimes to change that perceptionAnd the only way to do it is to go beyond the fears and put into action one step at a time. Thanks Alex for all your help

I have spent the last two years literally just rewiring my own thinking and taking step-by-step, sometimes taking two steps back or falling backwards and choosing to step forward again to be able to do the things that I want to be doing. If I died today I don’t consider myself a failure even though I haven’t achieved some things I want to do because for the last two years I have been moving forward towards those goals. Every goal is a process and I encourage anyone if it takes you the next 2, 3, 4, 5 years just to get to the place where you could begin to do the things you want to do then take the step and keep moving forward. You don’t know how long it may take you but every person who has ever gained some true wisdom realizes that the true achievement and joy is in the process. Even when you attain something you have to keep striving to maintain it, keep it or move onto the next project it’s all about never giving up to do well or be quality at what you do. When they ask anybody elderly or whatever age what their biggest regrets are most the time it is one of two things or both. It was being afraid to try what they really wanted to do and/or doing their best at being good in their relationships especially parents with children.

This is deep. And exactly what I need to hear. Gonna listen to it a few more times. Really gotta kill that whole mindset of thinking about how others see me. It’s such crap and I know it. I’ve been working against it for a few years now and getting so much stronger but I still got a ways to go to fully kill that thing! Ugh! Thanks for such an awesome video!

I felt that...you're right Alex. My best strategy is to be silent about my goals and keep taking action so the results will speak for themselves. Actually I started deleting my social media and I can't tell you how calm my mind is, cause I don't want to fall into the trap of posting shit like: "I worked 10 hours" "Hustle Never Stops" etc.

Hey man always love the content (and software). Rock on and keep it coming! One thing I noticed in the into of this video was you kept reiterating an assumption you have that listeners tell themselves they “fear failure” and this fear stops them from accomplishing what they want in business. While you may be correct at a fundamental level, listeners (like myself) simply do not consciously acknowledge it. Consider using an example instead of talking about emotions. Consider the words I use in my head which revolve around “I’ll get to that later. Right now I have to do X”. Rock on 🤘
