Battery life > display resolution

You'll buy such a thin laptop because of the mobility. so in my opinion, i'm happy Apple handled it like this

Took apple over 5 years to bring the retina display to the Macbook air

Literally, after 9 years of usage, this Macbook Air still rocks!

i think that apple didn't put the retina display on the Air, so the battery consumption would be lower, hence better battery life.

There's an OSX update coming in October that gives all their laptops 72% more battery. The Retina Macbook Pro will get around 14 hours of battery life, and the air will get about 20 from what the Betas have shown.

Marques Brownlee: Your reviews are very accurate. I want to thank you for your review on HTC One. Your review was the one which actually convinced me for owning the One !

I'm picking up a 2013 macbook air simply because I already have a very powerful desktop computer to do my work on so I just needed something that was portable and had long battery life.  The fact that this machine is also pretty powerful for an ultrabook is awesome aswell.l

Watching this video on a 2013 Macbook Air. Still using this machine after 8 years. I want to share some thoughts on it.

I bought this laptop just before I began my masters. Heavy usage of Pages, Keynote, and Preview in first two years. Occasional usage of Microsoft Excel. Only used Safari as the browser. Tried Chrome for once but deleted it right away when I saw the heavy battery drain.

After I finished studying, I spent 10-12 hour sessions of Europa Universalis IV daily for a year. Trackpad was awesome to play. Never needed a mouse. I played it on my chest lying on the bed. I still have the burn mark from the heat generated on my chest.

When I began working, they gave me a brand new HP laptop. It was a very capable machine. Although I carried it with me back home, I always used my Macbook Air whenever I can, even for work. The only downside was that, large tables of Microsoft Excel was a no go on it. I even did some data mining and ML projects with Knime. I do not recommend it.

I have used this machine as the main media consumption and social media throughout the time. Youtube, Netflix etc. still works great. Scroll based social media sites such as Reddit, Facebook were usable in the first four-five years, but now Safari gives me the banner: 'this webpage is using significant energy, closing it may improve the responsiveness'. Twitter is still fine though.

Original battery died after five years. I have replaced it with a Chinese knock off one for one-fifth what Apple Store asked for battery replacement. It was my first time opening the back lid for the first time. You cannot believe the amount of dust. I learnt the value of cleaning inside the computer then. The battery died in two years. I replaced it again with the same thing. I also replaced the charger this time from the same brand. I am now at the cycle count of 276. I am guessing it will also die this year. Damage of four more years of battery life was around 150 bucks.

Anyway, I think I should decrease the work load on this old pal now. It is still an okay machine. I mean I can live with it, but maybe it works better as a secondary machine. Now I have my eye on these M1 machines. Maybe another Macbook Air. Probably not a Macbook Pro. What? They don't have Magsafe charger or SD Card reader? It will definitely be a downgrade on IO. Who gives a fuck on USB 3.1? I only needed USB for my pen drive.

I just ordered one of these and I'm really excited about it. It's my first Mac in about 15+ years, so it's a big step. I bought it based on it's portability, battery life and size. It's purely for web-use, so Evernote and Google Chrome is really all I need in a laptop. The display is not as bad as some people make it out to be. Retina doesn't make any sense for my uses for this machine. All in all, I'm super excited for it's arrival, and I'm certain that I am not going to be disappointed.

That battery life shot... With my Lenovo that goes down to 75% battery just powering up and tells me I have 40 minutes left of battery life... It made me cry a little. hahahahha
