I haven't needed it so far but it does depend on the needs of the person using it. If you plan on using programs that may require the extra ram, go for it.

yes, but you won't have much storage space at all. you would have to use external drives for storage.

not sure what the battery loss will be but you should still be able to get decent battery life out of it. I would go with a macbook air because I switched from a pro (it was heavier and less powerful) it should be enough but you won't have very much space for files.

Im not going to be using it real heavy. Just movies and school work. Will it still last long with just the 4?

Vaio. I have the 2012 MBA, and have used this (sister has it). I want a Vaio Pro because the screen is really really bad on this. The contrast, viewing angles are pathetic. Also a touch screen is useful, and I don't have to get stuck in Mac OS, which has been a big pain since I jumped on the Mac ship. Vaio, clearly, and the Pro is made out of carbon fiber (feels flimsy but very tough, had a Vaio Z a few years back), no need for the thick alu on the MBA that makes it a lot heavier. My 2 cents.

That's the one problem about the MacBook air, they solder the ssd to the motherboard so you can't replace the drive like you would be able to in a ultrabook

damn i need to upgrade, still on my 2008 late model pro. its battery is a little more then a hour and a half on youtube. 3hrs on social network
