Omg did you just said tie on design ?? Apple's classic aluminum design just outperforms the blocky and ugly design of the Sony VAIO. And did you notice that the screen is supporting the laptop when opened ? Pathetic design. Apple won and destroyed Sony this time.

The 14 hrs is amazing, gotta admit. Don't know how they did it. But I keep my Charger I'm my car anyway as second nature and what wins me over for the VAIO is the screen (touch + higher def) and its sleek black design. (Have several carbon fibre products, very nice!)

It makes me want to cry that Cnet still uses the iTunes test. It's much better optimized under OSX, so you're not looking at actual CPU performance. iTunes in Windows runs under an emulation layer.

The Sony has a touch screen, the MBA doesnt even has a touch screen, thats a deal breaker for me.
The Sony has higher resolution full HD 1080p IPS display, the MBA is a mere 900p LCD screen, not even an IPS screen !!
The Sony has HDMI output, doesnt require external adapters
The Sony has NFC
The Sony has 1MP camera, MBA has 720p camera
The Sony is WiDi ready
The Sony screen can produce 95% of sRGB colors, the MBA can produce 67% !!
The Sony is lighter than the MBA,
The Sony runs Windows 8, you can do anything with Windows, you can connect any accessories without any driver problem, The MBA has OSX, lots of drivers issues, I cant get my work done on OSX, but maybe thats a personal preference..
Anyway, i think the Sony is a clear winner

No matter what you go with, you still get a great laptop. I would have chosen the Sony VAIO Pro, but that's just my preference. These two laptops will outperform your expectations no matter which one you buy.

Sony also has another model that comes with blue Ray burner 8 gigs of ram hdmi out put and micro sd reader Sony still is a step ahead of Apple my brother I wish Apple would really renovate their pcs so I can buy me one not buying a peace here & another there come on Apple you can do better than that. ..

Not always. It really depends on the bond structure of the Carbon. It can be strong as a jewel or soft as a pencil lid. Big difference.

I was tossing between the two of these so it was great to see this video! However, having a 1080 screen is something I really want. So I'll be going with the Vaio. The Macbook is still a great computer, no doubt. It's just let down by the screen in my eyes.

I have a Retina MacBook and I paid upwards of $2000 for it and I have to say it was worth it. There are windows PC that has arguably great specs for half that price but nothing beats the reliability, fluidity, ease of use and practicality of a Mac. Trust me. I was a Windows user for years and after using a Mac, I'm never going back to Windows. I've had a Mac for years before this retina and it ran just as smooth as the day I bought it. Well worth the premium price.
