I am 61 & quite knowledgeable to the choices I make….your point that hit me, was you Know what is best…(and I do) but knowing IS NOT enough! As one lady stated, I eat behind my back! and I eat when I am bored…(living in a xtremely cold environment). Retired and feeling like I need to cut calories way back, because of my age? I am pretty active even….and it’s just not enough.

So true!!! I became a registered dietician in order to lose the excess weight I carried since childhood but I hadn't any sustainable results. Instead after dealing with my emotional eating via psychotherapy everything was easier...I have kept a healthy lifestyle and the weight I want since 2015. Great video!

Definitely a mindset, you can’t force someone to workout at the gym, they have to want it themselves, same goes for food, I treat both like a hobby, gym and food because you can learn so much from both every day, different style exercises and different style recipes to try out.

I am tired of the constant calorie counting and tracking everything I eat. It is frustrating me a lot and I am not enjoying my food right now. I need a mental break from this!

Hi Dani, thanks for the video. I used to live by calorie counting. I had the app and I must say it really worked for me with regards to weight loss. But I did become quite obsessive about it and I found it just consumed my life. Plus I couldn't keep it up and would, as you say, eat behind my own back. I am really enjoying the more healthy/intuitive eating approach, but I listened to your video a while back where you said you need to ensure you have a deficit in your calories if you do want to lose weight. So I decided to put all the food I ate that day in the app and I was surprised that my calories were a lot higher than I would have thought. I live by your mantra of eating real, whole foods, most of the time. But foods like avo, nuts, olive oil, chia seeds etc are so high in calories! It depressed me so much. I was so excited about changing my whole lifestyle, but then I started worrying that what if I do all this and I do get healthier and feel a lot more sane, but I never lose the weight?? It gave me so much anxiety, I just deleted the app, but I have been struggling to get back my positive mindset since then. How do you shift your focus away from obsessing about food and weight all the time, but at the same time, still lose weight??

I heard something today that completely blew my mind -- "Working out does not fix obesity -- it only helps you from gaining MORE weight." I don't know if that's accurate, but if it is, that upends all I've ever known.

I am counting calories for a very long time and I’ve lost weight couple years ago and now I gained lots of weight and cannot lose it no matter what I do but I was eating 1200 calories for years and now according to your calculations I have to eat 1680 cannot imagine eating so many calories and afraid to gain even more weight

Nothing ever has worked for me losing weight. Nothing. I started eating breakfast later in morning around 10 or 11. Watched any foods that the body reads as sugar. Have lost 10 lbs. since July.
