When removing a section of insulation when adding a third wire, hold the blade vertically and cut groove along the length of the wire. Less likely to cut any of the stranded conductors.

First, thanks for the video, I never thought of tapping in by making a hole in the braiding of the wire.

I have a question in regards to tapping into an existing wire for adding more current. I am powering ESP8266 and WS2812B LED Strips from a PowerBank (USB 5v DC 2.4A). my problem is if I try to chain a second strip there isn't enough power. Can I splice in power at the new strip adding to the existing DC already there, or do I need to make sure the power at the end of the first strip doesn't continue to the second? The LED strips use a JST SM 3 Pin connector, plus has an extra positive and ground wire. My thought is to have an extra PowerBank for each strip, but I need to continue the data through all strips

May I ask, is solder absolutely necessary? I've got to do something like this to the wires under my car dash, to solder that I'd need to do that upside down. Surely if the wires are nicely twisted around one another, then taped and then shrunk tubing placed over that, that'd be good enough?

What if the main wire is 50ft long and you have to make multiple connections like this?
