How do you handle someone that makes a comment about your body shape or size?

Exactly! “If someone doesn’t like your appearance, that’s their problem.” A lot of that is projection or jealousy, in some cases.

I couldn’t agree with this more !!! I can’t stand people who constant talking about other peoples bodies. The one that probably infuriates me the most is when people tell pregnant women things like, are you carrying twins ?, when are you due, I’m sure soon you look so pregnant. For some reason it just irritates me so much when people pick on pregnant women. Well I guess I’m like you I try not to comment on people even if they lost weight because I never want them to feel like if they gain it back then they failed. I try to tell them things like, “ you are looking so healthy, or you have such a glow to you.” I have really tried to instill in my kids that we need to be happy with what G-d gave us and just try to be healthy. Whether it be our bodies or our hair to some extent things are out of our control. Both of my kids used to hate their curly hair, my daughter wants more muscle, my son wants to be more thin even-though he is very strong. I do think we as moms need to start early and tell our children that we are all different sizes and we all can be healthy but some things are out of our control and we need to be happy with what we are given. We should never comment on other peoples body.

When I was 16…a full, grown, adult man that was a “friend” of the family looked at me and said, “looks like someone could do with a few rounds on the treadmill” The worst for me was when people would speak about my weight as if I wasn’t even there. An aunt one time, at a dinner party no less, turned to my mother after I greeted her and without saying a word to me said “wow, vanessa has gained a lot of weight hasn’t she?” Ask me if I ate anything at said dinner party. What nobody knew was that I was depressed and I am emotional eater so yes, I had gained weight but I did not need it shoved in my face
