Years ago I met an Iraqi brother who belongs to the Sunni school but hands out water to (mostly) Shi’i pilgrims walking between Najaf and Karbala. When I asked him about it, he smiled and said, “When you have love of Ahlulbayt in your heart, Sunni and Shi’a disappear.”

To be honest, the youtube Muslim community online has been very toxic lately, this is a breath of fresh air. Thank you for making such a genuine and fair video. Inshallah, I hope this encourages more Muslims to follow in your footsteps of respectful dialogue.

nice to see Ali Imran having the opportunity to give a starter explanation about Shia Islam to the viewers. Unfortunately there is much misinformation spread about Shias that time and time again can be proven to be untrue. I am glad to see Let the Quran Speak being open to a dialogue to help get the truth out about both sides of the matter.

Let the Qur'an Speak is such a treasure; there are very few people that try to reach out and have intra-religious conversations. I really appreciate you guys. May God reward your efforts manifold

Salam Alaykum,

I would like to thank Let the Quran Speak for facilitating this conversation. Praying that it paves the pathway for more intellectual discourse between the two communities.

We are not allowed to combine maghrib with any salah, and combining is only for travelling purposes but that has to be anything further than 80km. Salah doesn't work around your convenience, it doesn't work around your employment, it's the other way round. Alhumdullilah many of us are able to make it work because Islam is a way of life and everything has to fit in with our way of life. It should never be less than a priority.

I'm an Iraqi brough-up Sunni. The sectarian tension in Iraq has torn my country apart and allowed for foreign intervention to take advantage of my country. I believe through open-minded discussions we can bridge the gap, and reconcile our sources and traditions. Both Sunnis and Shias have extremists, and both have misconceptions of one another. I believe as an Ummah we can no longer afford to have this divide, as corrupt leaders and clergy will continue to take advantage of us for their own interests at our own expense.

As a sunni Muslim I enjoy this kind of openness and welcoming of Shia muslims .In fact i am ardent supporter of open dialogue from all faiths of the world. I'm hoping the program brings in more representatives from other faith, including even atheist as well, So we can learn from each other and coexist in peace

I am from a part of South India where there is almost no Shia Islam. I usually go to a Salafi Mosque where they normally despise and mention Shia Islam in a very poor manner. Once during Friday Sermon, it was mentioned Shia Islam was created as part of a Jewish conspiracy. (Hatred against all jews propagated is another matter to be discussed). I was taken back by the statement. I did my research and found differences exist (in rituals and practices few I may not agree with), but there is nothing of that sort it being a conspiracy. The fact that the Ahl al-Bayt - Hassan, Hussian and their families were brutally murdered by the forefathers of Salafi-Wahabis is always hidden on purpose by the wahhabi propaganda. Also found the Salafi-Wahhabism is funded by Saudi money in India which propagates hatred against other sects of Islam which itself is un-islamic.

This is so amazing! I'm a Muslim from Philippines. I don't see any Sunni or Shi'a. I only see "Muslims".

This is by far the best interview you have made. Sunni and Shia we are all the same. We have both same belief its just "Islamic Politics" that has created a wall between us

This is soooo important. Being from a Sunni Tradition I made my MA at a shiite Institute. I was s amazed by the tolerance and accademia I never experienced in this methode in Sunni Institutes. We need to mingle and learn from each other.

Even if we have differences between each other, we need more inner faith dialogue between Sunnis, Shias, etc. If we want to unite our Ummah, this is where it starts. Now we're quick to want to have an interfaith dialogue with Christians, Jews, and other faiths and there's nothing wrong with that. However, we should strive harder to have dialogues with other Muslims. Masha'Allah, great work!!

This conversation is very special for our entire Muslim community because the shia scholar underscore on knowledge and non polemic way to understand each other because he rightly says that when we approach each other through polemical discussion we don't get any positive sence . I am a sunni Muslim and i love Shi'as
